No Waste More Taste

The youth exchange aims at raising awareness in young European citizens about the waste food impact on environment and the importance of reducing it.

Around 100 million tonnes of food are wasted annually in the EU. If nothing is done, food waste could rise to over 120 million tonnes by 2020.
Wasting food is not only an ethical and economic issue but it also depletes the environment of limited natural resources. All actors in the food chain have a role to play in preventing and reducing food waste, from those who produce and process foods (farmers, food manufacturers and processors) to those who make foods available for consumption (hospitality sector, retailers) and ultimately consumers themselves. The project aims at raising awareness in young European citizens about the waste food impact on environment and the importance of reducing it by sharing ideas and encouraging the interchange of differing viewpoints and best practices among European citizen’s experiences.
During the Youth Exchange, the participants will carry out a work programme designed and prepared by the partners (in conjunction with the participants and their youth leaders) before the Exchange takes place: we therefore will expect that participants will have done some research on their own countries before the Exchange takes place and will be able to make a short video-presentation on how the food waste is being tackled.
The programme will include workshops, debates, role games and outdoor activities with organizations and enterprises that work on the theme. There will be included visits to local farmers that practice biological cultivation techniques and practical activities with organizations that work on food sharing and food store.
