“Living Light, Acting Strong – Youth in Nature for a Sustainable Europe”

Living Light, Acting Strong – Youth in Nature for a Sustainable Europe” is a youth exchange designed to empower young people to adopt sustainable lifestyles

“Living Light, Acting Strong – Youth in Nature for a Sustainable Europe” is a youth exchange designed to empower young people to adopt sustainable lifestyles, develop resilience and survival skills, and become active environmental protectors through immersive learning in a natural camping setting.
The project brings together young people from different European countries to live and learn in a low-impact outdoor environment, where minimal accommodation and proximity to nature become intentional educational tools. By combining sustainable living practices, outdoor survival and life skills, and hands-on environmental action, the project creates a transformative learning experience that strengthens environmental responsibility, civic engagement, and personal autonomy.
Participants will explore how everyday choices affect the environment, learn how to adapt and cooperate in resource-limited contexts, and actively contribute to the protection of local ecosystems. Through non-formal education methods, peer learning, and experiential activities, young people will develop concrete competences that can be transferred to their daily lives and local communities.

2. Overall Aim
To empower young people to live more sustainably, act responsibly towards nature, and become active eco-guardians in their communities by combining low-impact living, survival and life skills, and environmental action in a camping-based youth exchange.

3. Specific Objectives
1. By the end of the exchange, at least 90% of participants will demonstrate increased awareness of sustainable living practices by successfully applying minimum three low-impact lifestyle actions (e.g. waste reduction, responsible water use, plastic-free habits) during the camping period.
2. During the project, participants will acquire at least five practical survival and life skills (such as outdoor cooking, orientation, teamwork under constraints, resource management, and basic risk assessment), documented through self-assessment tools and facilitator observation.
3. By the final day of the exchange, all participants will actively take part in at least one environmental protection action (eco-clean-up, biodiversity observation, citizen science or awareness action) directly linked to the local natural ecosystem.
4. Within two months after the project, at least 70% of participants will initiate or contribute to a local follow-up activity (workshop, awareness campaign, school presentation, community action) promoting sustainable living or environmental protection in their home communities.
5. Throughout the project, participants will strengthen intercultural cooperation, with 100% of national groups involved in mixed-team activities and shared responsibility roles within the camping community.
