Theme: Approaching the matter of violence and violence prevention by working with methods of applied theatre. 2 Parts: Training and International Youth Exchange
International Theatrecamp on Violence Prevention
Salzburg, Austria – July 2014 (14.07.-19.07.; 19.07.-26.07.)
The cooperating partners akzente Salzburg (www.akzente.net) and Friedensbüro Salzburg (www.friedensbuero.at) are organizing an International Camp around the topic of Violence Prevention in Salzburg, Austria in July 2014. The Camp should consist of two phases (A + B) and should partly take place in the main public park of the city of Salzburg. The subject – Violence Prevention – should be approached by using methods of Applied Drama: Forum Theatre, Blacklight Theatre and Playback Theatre.
The camp should mainly be financed by the EU Youth in Action Programme: Phase A as Training Course (Action 4.3), Phase B as International Youth Exchange (Action 1.1). We are going to apply for grants at deadline October 1st 2013. The project proposal is promoted by the Federal State Government (via akzente Salzburg), the youth coordinator of the city of Salzburg and several other local youth organizations.
Summary:
Phase A is a Training Course for Youth Workers: 7 countries – 5 youth workers each – 4 days excluding travel days. The participants are going to participate in three workshops in which they will get familiar with the three methods of Applied Drama and how they can be used to deal with the issues of violence and violence prevention in the work with youngsters.
4 of the 5 youth workers who participated in the Training Camp return home by the end of phase A. One from each country stays in Salzburg to apply the methods learnt by three plays/performances together with the young people during phase B.
Phase B is an International Youth Exchange: 7 countries – 6 young people each – 6 days excluding travel days. Each group is accompanied by one youth worker from home. So there will be 2 youth workers with each group – one who attended phase A and leads the workshops in phase B and one who travelled with the group from home and will assist his/her colleague during the workshops.
The three performances/plays will be premiered on the last day of the Theatre Camp.
Age of the Youngsters:
15 to 19 years.
Project Coordinators:
