Erasmusik

The “Erasmusik” youth exchange is focused on discovering cultural diversity and strengthening tolerance among people. The project will take place in Gemlik-Turkey between 09-18 September 2018 for a period of 10 days involving 6 partner countries formed by 7 members (6 participants + 1 leader).
As well known music has always been considered as an international language and it is a great tool to bring people together. It is universal and unique. As for “Folk Music”, it contains every nations culture, history, lifestyle etc. which needs to be supported and delivered to future generations. In fact, Erasmusik will provoke people’s attention only because it is about music secondly it will raise awareness on folk music which represents our identity and roots.
PARTICIPANT PROFILES:

- Aged between 18-30 years
- Open minded, talented on music, able to play an instrument
- Responsible and aware of their role on building Europe
- Who are representing disadvantaged community or facing social obstacles or have fewer opportunities.

AIMS:

- promote human rights, active participation, intercultural dialog through traditional music and instruments
- Improving participant’s personal and professional music level
- Exploring their own capacities and improving self confidence
- Develop competences, discover new cultures, habits and life-styles, mainly through peer-learning; strengthen values like solidarity, democracy, friendship, etc
- promoting diversity, intercultural and inter-religious dialogue
- Discovering the value of respect

ACTIVITIES AND OUTCOMES:

- Getting together with the light of music
- Training in different culture’s music
- Workshops, debates, peer work
- Jam sessions
- Sharing the stories of the songs to get a better view of the culture
- Discussing local and folk music
- Gaining skills in creative teamwork
- Strengthen individual confidence and independence
- Visiting conservatory and playing music with the students
- Cultural nights
- Rehearsals (one of them will be in a historical church with perfect sound insallation)
- Final concert for the local public in open area
- Forming fruitful connections, enabling future collaborations

ROLES:

- Although the project is almost ready to submit it is not very strictly defined. Every partner organization or participant is expected to contribute to the project in order to make it fruitful.
- We will provide the “more universal” instruments but if possible every organization is asked to bring their unique instruments.
- Each partner will introduce their cultural/traditional instrument and music
- Each partner will teach traditional music from its own music culture
