Entrepreneurship ‘Youth can do it’

The needs of youth innovation because to step out from unemployment, it is important to develop the entrepreneurship values among youth.

Youth should be trained about the importance of independence, critical thinking, innovative based actions, to achieve to make them think about possible solutions on how to increase the welfare of their communities.

The role of our organization is to empower young people in our community to develop themselves. The purpose is to leave an imprint of a lasting impression to transform young lives. Within the project “Entrepreneurship, youth can do it” we aim to empower participants who have an idea to set their own startup from different countries to embrace their ideas and t collaboration with each other to improve and advance their ideas.

Although the youth unemployment rate has improved since 2013, in 2015 it was still over the pre-recession level and the double of the total unemployment rate. Furthermore, in some regions the situation is dramatic. In 2015, against an average EU youth unemployment rate of 20.4%, there are peaks of unemployment in the range of 40%-60%. This evidence justifies the need to address youth unemployment by means of tailored initiatives as well as the importance given by policymakers to youth entrepreneurship as a way out of unemployment, inactivity, or social exclusion. Related to the Youth definition, we refer to the United Nations definition of ‘youth’ as people between the ages of 15 and 24 while acknowledging that the category is more fluid than a fixed age group would suggest.

Young people and those who are disadvantaged do not have access to start-up capital and traditional banking cannot rise to the challenge. The key is that one becomes an entrepreneur, not by birth but by experience so that the young entrepreneur also needs to be “tutored” by an enterprise which possesses that experience. This has to be contracted for and therefore paid for. In all these matters – money, training, and experience –, public policy can play an important role” (OECD, 2001).
