focus on exploring discrimination and working on creative ways how to promote tolerance. During the 8 days of the exchange in Latvia
The youth exchange “Draw over discrimination” will bring together 30 young people from 6 different European Union countries. The aim of youth exchange it to focus on exploring discrimination and working on creative ways how to promote tolerance. During the 8 days of the exchange in Latvia, near Valmiera and in Riga, the participants will deeper explore 5 ways of discrimination - discrimination of race and ethnically origin, sexual orientation, HIV/AIDS and social status.
The learning process will be non-formal and interactive, using such methods as group work, discussions, simulation games, presentations and survey making. Each of the participating countries will prepare a presentation about the situation in the respective country, this allowing others to get to know the similarities and differences among the countries. During the exchange the participants will as well learn how to make animation movies and will create 5 short animation movies, each of them focusing on one of the above mentioned types of discrimination or discrimination in general. The participants will visit a Latvian animation studio to experience the way the professionals work with animation.
