Divercity ! Improving citizenship integration for young people

This project brings together three (or more) citizenship education entities around citizen participation for disadvantaged youth to share practices and tools.

Project’s goals:

The practice exchange project aims to construct tools and skills to facilitate the implementation of initiatives promoting youth participation among disadvantaged youth, thus pursuing the following objectives:

1. Facilitate the sharing of expertise in citizenship education through debate:
- Expertise concerning field practices (events, interventions, awareness raising...)
- Expertise concerning national and european legal frameworks

2. Strengthen each partner’s capacity to integrate non formal practices:
- Analyze and develop good practices in non formal education aimed at disadvantaged youth
- Create safe and inclusive spaces for young people to discuss citizenship regardless of their personal situation

3. Stimulate European cooperation through a cross-border project
- Association of a variety of structures situated in different European countries
- Organization of visits and exchanges in the countries of the structures associated to produce a comparative study and adjustable productions

Timeline: 29 months
May 2023: TPM 1 (work meeting between the partners, project kick-off)
April - September 2023 : IO1
September 2023 to April 2024 : 3 visits (partners are invited to participate in each other activities and see the practices used)
December 2023 to April 2024 : IO2, IO4
June 2024: TPM 2 (work meeting between the partners, feedback on the visits and productions review)
July - december 2024: IO3
January - April 2025 : dissemination events in each partner country
January - September 2025 : Training session in each partner country (for educator and administratives working with disadvantaged youth based on the productions)

Intellectual productions:

IO1: Study on the existent support of disadvantaged youth and their "civic integration" in partner countries
Comparative study on public policies and existing mechanisms in partner countries to encourage and promote the civic integration of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Analysis of the findings, methods and objectives.

IO2: Guide of good practices in citizenship education for disadvantaged youth
Collection of programs and practices aimed at encouraging and supporting the participation and civic engagement of young people with fewer opportunities in Europe.

IO3: Training kit for youth educator working with disadvantaged youth
Training kit for people supervising young people with fewer opportunities to promote participation and civic engagement of these young people through appropriate and innovative methods adapted to their profiles and needs.

IO4: Booklet of proposal to improve civic involvement for disadvantaged youth
Recommendations for supervisors/youth workers/ volunteeers and public authorities to encourage youth civic participation
