Balkan Exploration - a time travel 1918-2018

With a group of 28 young people we will travel by hitchhiking to the Balkan countries to collect stories from the past and present.

This time we are going to #BalcanExploration from 9 to 23 of July!We will travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Kosovo by hitchhiking to find answers to questions about the First World War. In small groups participants will go back in time from country to country visiting places of war memorials and learning from the past.
We will get to know each other with games and a hiking excursion in the foothillls of the Bavarian Alps, then hitchhike in groups of 2 or 3 people to each of the projects that are working toward peace in the Balkans.
The call is open for participants aged 18-28.
- 8 participants from France
- 8 people from Germany
- 5 people from Russia
- 7 people from the EU, the Balkans and the rest of the world.
Food and lodging will be fully covered during the 14-day project.
100 Euros will be reimbursed for transportation to Siegsdorf, Germany, and from Gracenica, Kosovo. (150 Euros for Russian participants).
In solidarity with people from further locations or less economic means, we will divert unused transportation money to those who need it, so hitchhiking and sharing rides (blablacar or group train tickets) is encouraged. The participants will be networked to help to find group transportation to and from the project.
*Participation fee €25
