Art For Your Future

nternational training course to develop expertise, exchange of good practices and networking on non formal education through visual arts among youth workers.

CALL FOR PARTNERS!!

Context and main aim of the project:

« Education through art is a natural means of learning at all periods of the development of the individual, fostering values and disciplines essential for full intellectual, emotional and social development of human beings in a community ; Association on a worldwide basis of those concerned with education through art is necessary in order that they may share experiences, improve practices and strengthen the position of art in relation to all education; International co-operation and the better understanding between peoples would be furthered by a more completely integrated design and permanent structure for the diffusion of beliefs and practices concerning education through art, so that the right of man to ‘freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts’ and to create beauty for himself in reciprocal relationship with his environment, would become a living reality. » Dr. Herbert Read, UNESCO, InSEA

The practice of visual arts like photography, video and graphic design can develop many skills and capacities, stimulating self reflection and critical mind, developing creativity and personal sensitivity, social cohesion by collective reflection work on society, encouraging tolerance and defense of humanism values, and fostering citizen expression. We are convinced that everyone has artistic skills. It is just matter to reveal them.
To express on idea by visual work is a process that leads to understand, question, and open to subjectivity a topic. There is then, no one unique correct way to do or to talk about something but several variants. Visual art learning is, in this sense, a promising tool to bring back self confidence to young people left out the strict and academic school system.

In todays world, where young people are over connected, subject to a constant flux of images and short slogans, visual arts seem to be an attractive media and a necessary field for non formal education.

The purpose of this training will be to provide methods and tools to the youth workers and trainers to use visual arts in the frame of non formal. The program will gather theoretical knowledge on education through visual arts, technical expertise and practice on video, photography and graphic design, team building and collective work methods, project management and organization of cultural events, tools of communication, dissemination and follow up. The aim of this training is to gather experience of youth workers specialized in education through art in order to exchange best practices, improve our skills and set up fundaments for a real consideration of art as a mean of non formal learning and develop a European network.

Objectives:

- To explain and demonstrate how visual arts can be used for non formal education, having precise objectives of learnings, skills and citizen values

- To provide the participants technical expertise tools on photography, video and graphic design

- To create a space for exchange of experiences and best practices through workshops to practice tools, methods and common pitfalls in the field of youth trainings in order to train youth back in their country for sustainable future development of the project at local levels

- To realize a document of best practices in the field of non formal education through the practice of visual art at the end of the training

- To develop a common understanding between participants and organizations, and to support innovative project on the subject of non formal education through visual arts.

- To create an European network that will share ideas, organize projects in the future.

Methodology:

The program of the course will be based on non formal education and will be conducted using an interactive and participative approach. Active group/team work, role-plays, outdoor activities and plenary discussions, as well as theoretical inputs and technical learning will characterize the program of the course in order to cover all aspects of the project themes. Special attention will be paid to the fact that the competences and the knowledge gained and transmitted during the course remain sustainable and transferable. This will be achieved by setting up enough space and time for reflection and evaluation, by providing expertise, comprehensive documentation, handouts and guidance from the trainers’ team. A finished workshop pack of methods will be given to the participants at the end of the training so that they can use it at the return in their own countries.
