Youth for Mobility

Society’s most urgent challenges are in urgent need of effective changemakers. Because despite all efforts, collectively we make insufficient progress: oceans are still full of plastic, factory farming is still rife, refugees still make perilous journeys to Europe, etc. Enter: youth. Young people can contribute greatly to societal change, but they're not always aware of their opportunities or may be unable to realise their potential on their own. A need exists for stronger and more effective participation of youth to our societal challenges in order to enforce much-desired change.

Our vision:
Youth for Mobility aims to meet this need by realising the all-time most extensive youth network focusing on equality of humans, animals and the Earth. Within this network (existing) initiatives are encouraged and enriched, relevant stakeholders are influenced, and above all many (development) opportunities are provided to youth to help them realise their ambitions. This all fits the ideal world that we envision and stand for:
# equal opportunities and rights for all (whether it be related to migration, education, work, health care, living conditions, etc.).
# animals free from being used for human purposes.
# (nearly) completely circular economies.

The YFM youth network is shaped by the following activities:
# Training courses aiming to equip youth with relevant knowledge, skills and a network in relation to a specific topic. In the past we’ve covered topics such as animal-friendly diets, upcycling, and human trafficking. During each training course, links are made with activities of relevant stakeholders, such as policy-makers, startups and other initiatives.
# <<under construction>> Our own social network where youth and organisations/initiatives can exchange knowledge, experience and insights and where they can aid each other in their development. The social network contains an extensive open-source library, houses a large and easily searchable collection of initiatives, and brings mechanisms with which members can contribute to initiatives, such as crowdsourcing, crowdfunding, a job board, etc. The social network provides opportunities for youth to remain connected with each other and with the organisations and initiatives they have connected with during a training course. <<under construction>>

Our approach:
Our collaborations and activities are characterized by:
# Learning with and from each other under full transparency and in close collaboration
# Indisputable societal objectives and vision, but open-minded regarding the best means or combination of means to attain these objectives (whether it be through legislation, advocacy, education, non-violent direct action, lobbying, manufacturing, etc.)
# Deliverables that contribute to the specific societal issue at hand. This can be e.g. an event, a set of (policy) recommendations or best practices, a product (design), a campaign, a startup company (plan), etc.

The team:
Our team is passionate about societal progress. Collectively the team has a rich experience in practising non-formal learning approaches as part of training courses, youth exchanges and local activities with hundreds of young people participating and in collaboration with 20+ organisations. At present we’re looking to expand our team, so please contact us if reading this got you excited!
