Uurainen 4H Association

Uurainen 4H association is a part of Finnish 4H organization. Our aim is to activate young people at aged between 6 to 28 years old living in rural area. The youth work we do have an educational purpose with long-term goals to endorse entrepreneurship, employability and active citizenship. The 4H organization’s values lie in our four Hs: Head, Heart, Hand and Health. The idea in 4H is that children and adolescents grow up towards a responsible and enterprising adulthood. The 4H clubs instils practical skills and knowledge with the help of professional instructors. Training and courses for working life provided by 4H further build on these competencies.

Local 4H youth clubs are the main activity what 4H association offers in Uurainen. There are many kind of 4H clubs, for example baking club, art and crafts clubs, dancing and sports clubs. When children grow up they can take part of skilled club leader course and be a club leader with adult. They can also take part in another work practice course and get a job through 4H. Working life courses are for example: Passport to working life, Child care, Housework and Gardening.

Working through 4H youth get those first very important work experience. Customers order the youth for a simple work like cleaning, 4H association takes care of invoicing and pays the salary. Youth can also start 4H entreprise which is youths own bisness were is a readymade concept for supporting young people's entrepreneurship. It´s opportunity to try out entrepreneurship under supervision.

4H Uurainen have had many projects were youngster has organise different kind of events. Biggest event what youngster has done in Uurainen is school ending party, Summer Party. Youngster organize event with adult project leader. We have also made youth exchanges which aim was producing an event.

Our latest project is all about robotics, technology and programming. We're offering "robo-clubs" for children aged 11 to 12 years. In those clubs children'll build, code and play with different robots. They'll also learn to think in logical way and program with different languages.
We're also forming a "tech-group" for youngster aged 13-16 years. With this group we're doing the same things as we do in the clubs but in more detailed way. Also we're going to plan youth exhange and make it true!
