The Romanian Association for Baltic and Nordic Studies

The Romanian Association for Baltic and Nordic Studies (ARSBN) was established in 2008 in Romania as a non-governmental organization, and is a member of the Anna Lindh Foundation. It aims to promote research activities in the field of Baltic and Nordic studies, and to encourage knowledge regarding this geographical area, through cooperation with similar institutions and associations from Romania and abroad. The ARSBN also endeavors to promote dialogue and cooperation on the Black Sea/Baltic Sea axis. The Association organizes scientific conferences, seminars, symposiums and also workshops, summer schools and exhibitions, not only in the field of the Baltic and Nordic Studies, but also in the field of European history and culture in general.

As the only such organization in South-East Europe, the ARSBN encourages the deepening of scientific contacts and the exchange of experience and best practices between the Black Sea and Baltic Sea areas.

The Association publishes the biannual Romanian Journal for Baltic and Nordic Studies, which can be found online via the Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL).
