Team Work NGO

The Team Work Association is a nongovernmental organization which began its activity in November 2002 with the support of the Rector of the University of Bucharest.

Our mission is to help students acquire, through volunteer work, the necessary experience for efficiently insertion into the work field, and to offer students the possibility of putting into practice the theory acquired during university studies.

Values
The main values of Team Work are:
 professionalism – because students can be very good professionals
 team work – because this is the only way to achieve great successes
 volunteering – because quality people can give everything without asking for anything in return

Objectives
 To promote among students a positive attitude towards volunteer work and team work.
 To familiarize students with a diversity of organizational environments through projects and internships
 To put into practice students’ theoretical knowledge.

Why Team Work?
The main feature of Team Work is that, through its projects and activities, the organization facilitates the development, during its members’ university years, of their interpersonal and communication skills, necessary in the work field.
Moreover, it provides its volunteers with a solid and relevant experience in various areas of management and other related domains.

Organization
Team Work is a project-based organization, working on a company-like principle, throughout departments composed and coordinated by students, each of them with its own projects in progress:

 Human Resources
 Communication
 Research
 International Relations

 Team Work School

Projects

The Botanical Garden – My City’s Garden - Ecology
The Botanical Garden – My City’s Garden is a project that started out in 2006 in The Botanical Garden of Bucharest and its goal was to promote the garden as a social and educational space. In 2007 the project extended in The Botanical Garden of Cluj-Napoca followed by Craiova in 2008. The project comprises both ecological activities (the Spring Cleaning and the Fall Cleaning), as well as fun, educational ones (the Cultural Garden and the Child’s and Parent’s Garden). Between 2006 and 2008 over 1200 volunteering students and 8200 children of all ages and their parents have attended these events.

International Youth Exchanges – Intercultural Schools and European Values
Based on the idea of summer schools, youth exchanges offer young people the opportunity to learn more about a certain topic, in a multicultural environment. Youth exchange projects are made possible through community funding, via the Youth in Action Program, or through private funding, and rely mostly on non-formal education, their objective being that of facilitating the access of young people to extra-curricular and intercultural knowledge.

Team Work School – Education – Disadvantaged People
The Team Work School Project was initiated in 2003 and it consists of preparation courses on different subjects at the no.8 orphanage in Bucharest (2003-2005), as well as preparation courses for high-school exams and university admission exams for disadvantaged children (since 2005 and presently).

The Opened Amphitheatre – Culture
This project was set in motion by the model of (monthly) informal meetings between students and well-known personalities of the socio-cultural scene in the interwar period. Since 2003, among our guest-speakers, we had professors and cultural figures of various areas: theatre, movie, literature, mass-media, management and others. They attend these conferences with the goal of sharing their professional and life experience with the younger generation.

FOCUS Training – non-formal education
The FOCUS Training project emerged as a possible solution for students’ typical low level of practical experience. All training sessions concentrate on topics of main interest for young people in view of building up a career specialty. Our guest speakers are Human Resources experts from advisory companies, successful managers in national and multinational enterprises and highly qualified representatives of the business environment. This project’s main objectives are: developing key concepts and acquiring practical and theoretical knowledge focused on specific domains of interest by our participants; directing students’ interest towards volunteering activities, projects, trainings, workshops and specialty seminars; and ensuring a non-formal, yet professional framework which encourages them to express their point of view, give feedback and work together as a team.
