Szegedi Keresztény Roma Szakkollégium

The Christian Roma College of Szeged was founded in 2012. We intends to support those young people with fewer opportunities, who wish to gain high results in their profession and - being aware of social problems – would help the rising of the roma population and promote roma-non roma dialogue. Peaceful cohabitation, recognition and acceptance of each other values, diversity and variety are not only pointless and useless words but meaningful experience in students life. Our professional programm is based on four modules: culture, spirituality, social knowledge, identity. Scholarship is provided to all students of the collage according to their results. It is considered to be important to grant their motivation and inspire them to set new goals. Mentors, tutors are in charge of supporting stundents propose various purposes with the help of personal encouragement to achieve different goals.
The Christian Roma College of Szeged deals with roma young people and youth with fewer opportunities. The main aim is to prepare the roma students for the intellectual life, and develop the willingness of the students for the social responsibility and for the roma-non roma dialogue. The unemployment is a huge problem in Hungary among the roma community. The problem is the exclusion of the roma people from the majority society. Because of this the roma youth can not find job place although they have qualifications or diploma. The most important task is to teach those skills for the youth, which they can start an enterprice, or start up. Our professional program in the College contains special knowledge: entrepreneurship, carrier planning, labour market - coaching, preparing for the labour market. We operate this special program for our last year students since 2017. According to our experiences the transition of the young adults from the higher education to the labour market is easier, problem free and more inspiring with this special program. We are open to share our experiences and learn new methods from the other organisations to help the roma youth to gain their aims.
We have Quality Label to send and to host ESC volunteers. We also would like to take part or organise Youth Exchanges ,ainly in the topic of the minorities.
