Sinop University

Sinop University International Relations Office actively manages and develops international connections since the foundation of the University. It has undertaken student and staff exchange programs in many European countries. On the other hand, Sinop University involves in several cooperative activities with some universities and scientific bodies in European and Non-European countries.
Sinop University applied to European Commission for "Erasmus University Charter" in November 2007 and thus, Erasmus student and staff exchange program at our university has been carried out since 2007. the number of students and staff who will benefit from the program is planned to be increased each year.
Our institution has also adapted our credit system to the "European Credit Transfer System" (ECTS) which contributes to student exchange activity and course equivalence.
Academic Recognition
As part of the integration into the European higher education area, Sinop University ensures recognition of credits received in another higher education institution with which it has bilateral agreements, provided that the courses taken by the students are pre-agreed on by his / her departmental committee consisting of the head of the department, the departmental Erasmus Coordinator and the head of the Evaluation Committee for courses taken elsewhere.Therefore, the students wishing to study abroad under the Erasmus and other exchange programmes are asked to get their learning agreements approved by their departments and signed and stamped by the faculty administrator before application to the host institution. The signatures on the learning agreement assure the exchange students that their credits will be recognized and incorporated into their transcript of records as courses taken abroad.
Accommodation
There is a state owned dormitory (YURTKUR) with the capacity of 500 students and there are several private dormitories as well. Such dormitories include rooms shared by 2 to 4 students, and are aimed at housing students who cannot afford to pay for better accommodation. Students who do not want to stay in dormitories can select to stay in private accommodation in apartment blocks. Accommodation is relatively cheaper than EU countries (60 Euro for the YURTKUR dormitory, 150 – 200 Euros for private dorms and 200 for flats for single)
Library, Labs and Computing Services
All the faculties and vocational schools have their own science and computer laboratories and departmental libraries. In addition, there is one central library in the Rectorate Building.
Student Campus Life
There are various recreational, social and sport clubs at Sinop University. Student Council organizes several concerts, exhibitions and contests and competitions and so on.

Sinop is a charming Black Sea port town with excellent views. The province of Sinop is located at the most northern point of the Black Sea Region at the most narrow section of the Boztepe Peninsula. The province is one of the most beautiful natural seaports of the Black Sea Region. Sinop is one of the oldest cities of the region and is the birth place of the philosopher Diogenes. The city provides unbelievable beauties to its visitors with the beaches which lie one each other.
