Primary School in Ogrodzieniec

‘Active for the future’ is an open, facultative group of young people living in the area of the Ogrodzieniec Commune who are concerned about the past, present and future situation of local community. Their interests, knowledge and experience are constantly implemented for creative, social work. The group consists of the 7th and the 8th grade students from primary schools, high school students and university students who live in the Ogrodzieniec Commune. The group cooperates with Youth Council authorized by the Mayor and they are responsible for advising. Initiating, promoting and supporting the City Council are the most important aims of the group. All suggestions are consulted with the Council and after their acceptance, they put idea into effect. Just as the Youth Council, ‘Active for the future’ works in 3 task forces. The first one called the Common Heritage includes enthusiasts of history and the past of the Ogrodzieniec Commune. They intend to promote information about the past, history, culture, tradition and habits of the region. A particular value of the Ogrodzieniec Commune is its location on the Kraków Częstochowa Upland. And so here are still some pieces of history that can be found everywhere: ammonites, limestones,, caves, traces of jurassic sea from a mesozoic period which are the educational base to broaden horizons in geography, geology and biology. One of the most interesting places is a ruined medieval Ogrodzieniec Castle. Its majestic ruins attracts not only enthusiasts of medieval secrets but also those who are inspired by eventful fate followed with curiosity. The other important is Birów Mountain located in Podzamcze with its exceptional Birów. Organising workshops on geology and nature about history of the region, organizing historic competitions and events are the main tasks of the group. Other activities are supporting folk bands and setting up amateur theatre groups. The other group which works within ‘Active for the future’ concentrates on tasks which make students from primary schools more active. They organize competitions and tournaments which promote the region and different ways of spending free time actively. The third group deals with an environment protection and ecology.
