The community in which we live as institution is that of the city of Cotronei. Our city is that of the city of Pythagoras and only this suggests old Cotronei has a lot more to it than at first meets the eye. In fact, Crotonei is the oldest part of magna Grecia in Calabria, while at the same time being the youngest province in Italy. Between the two an awful lot has happened in 5000 years. In term of economic and social matters one fifth of the population of Crotone is between 19-39 in ages and the creation of a strong youth policy and an European engagement of them are becoming more important than ever in the current context of our city, where the high economic growth in recent years has not been translated yet into prosperity and equal opportunities for all. The increasing trend in income disparities poses the risk of a large poverty among young people. Persistent poverty rate over the last 20 years attests that a substantial proportion of youth is also hit by poverty and all the other related problems, including un employment, lack of skills that match labour market, lack of housing and access to credit, migration and unsafe work conditions.
To be consciousness in immigration strategies potential for shaping and reflecting lager struggles for social and political changes is necessity in a territory in which the field of immigration could be not seen as problem but as resource.

We wish to address the need for our territory also through to problem solving of the immigration panorama by developing in them their European values. Our experience plans to review the new idea to be European in a new Europe of the values and aspirations to face with the new rules of the immigration policy capable to encourage a dialogue among people. Our project has adopted two interrelated and mutually supporting strategies in one hand to improve class-room into the secondary schools of our municipality to face with the immigration panorama and the other hand
to support and extend European integration among people by increasing youth –led groups during their workshops in our municipality.
In according to the European Commission’s plan for democracy, dialogue and debate that focus in its communication strategy on young people and the importance of getting them involved, as municipality, we decide to develop also some youth immigration associations to help our young people to develop a positive point of view about the youth immigration policy.
