Municipality of Assemini

Assemini is an Italian town of 26 530 inhabitants of the metropolitan city of Cagliari in Sardinia. The town boasts a consolidated tradition as a town of ceramics and ceramists, an art for which it has obtained the recognition of "Town of ancient tradition of ceramics Marchio DOC". Here the masters of the potter's wheel produce with ceramics tableware, kitchenware or decorative objects according to ancient techniques or experimenting with new ones, with the spirit of the craftsman who never stops learning. The city has dedicated a permanent market exhibition to this art, which also displays other works of craftsmanship from the area, an ideal place to discover all forms of local tradition.
There are about twenty or so cultural associations, which in different fields of application, operate in the area involving young and old in cultural activities, including the arts, audiovisual, folklore and music.
Always involved in project actions financed by direct and indirect European funds, the municipality of Assemini has invested both in infrastructural interventions and personal services and the purchase of goods and services.
The programmatic lines of the administration reaffirm the will to invest in cultural actions to support the education and awareness of the younger generations. The core of school and education is community welfare, which implies a shared commitment also on the educational and training front, preferring collaboration with schools and other educational subjects, focusing activities on the recovery and enhancement of local cultural identity and the comparison with the Euro Mediterranean realities.
