Institute of Social Economy Studies

INMEKO is a non profit, NGO in Athens (2007). The primary objective is to research, develop studies and action plans for the development of the social economy in Greece in order to support, theoretically and practically, the social entrepreneurs of young people and the Local Government to integrate the social economy into its policies.
INMEKO’s studies are not limited to co-funded projects, but extend to strategic issues for the development of social entrepreneurship, in terms of institutional organization and networking and training of staff in the civil society with the ultimate goal the empowerment of the social capital.
INMEKO provides local government and civil society organizations with innovative approaches and methodologies to address issues such as social exclusion through the development of co-operatives.
INMEKO promotes organizational know-how for "worker cooperatives" in municipalities: in tourism of social experience, recycling, green management and energy cooperatives.
INMEKO supports scientifically the training program "Social Economy Mentors" which is implemented in cooperation with municipalities and local social economy organizations for the training of executives.
INMEKO has developed strategic studies, educational material, manuals and has published the following books:
"Institutions and Applications of the Social Economy"
"Social economy and self-management".
INMEKO has established and maintains two online platforms for information and networking http://www.oikopress.gr/,
http://socialactivism.gr/ and participates and advises the Pan-Hellenic Association of Social Economy Partners in joint actions with Local Government.
INMEKO projects are as follows:
• “Development of bio-tourism and social experience tourism” INTERREG Greece – Albania, 2013-14.
• LEADER Local Development Program of Trikala Development SA KENAKAP action Biotourism Trikala 2014-16.
• TOPECO Peloponnese programs of the Ministry of Labor for the creation of Social Cooperatives 2013-16 (European Social Fund)
• Topography of Western Greece programs for the creation of Social Cooperatives 2014-16 (European Social Fund)

Biotourism of social experience – biotouristic paths

Institute of Social Economy Studies has already produced a biotouristic map and guide in- Meteora and plans to highlight it and to apply for E + KA 2 P1 2018
