Il Beccogiallo

The association "Il beccogiallo" is located in Matera, a city with 60.500 citizens, provincial capital of Basilicata. Matera welcomes millions of tourists every year thanks to "I sassi", a picturesque and historical quarter entirely hewn and built from limestone, recognized in 1993 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The association is situated in the elementary school "Padre Giovanni Minozzi", close to the old city. Matera is a city culturally very lively due to the presence of the local University and numerous cultural and volunteer associations. Many urban centres near Matera, famous for their traditions and attractive geographic position, make the stay particularly interesting. The city is easily reachable thanks to Bari's Palese Airport (60 km). In the last decades, Matera has been enriched by a foreign population (about 3%) coming from China, Romania, Albania, Morocco, Ukraine, that makes it a multicultural and multilingual city. The city's historical, cultural and social importance have made Matera the European Capital of Culture for 2019.
