Idanha Green Valley, Idanha Experimenta, Idanha Vive and Idanha Made In. If you want to change your life, these are some concepts to retain.
An ambitious concept that aims to improve living conditions and attract talent to the municipality.
Idanha-a-Nova wants to be the alternative and so will launch the RECOMEÇAR program. An ambitious project that will position Idanha as a municipality where it is possible to reconcile the well-being and proximity of nature with entrepreneurship, innovation and professionalism.
The program is based on the Idanha-a-Nova brand in four pillars:
- Idanha Green Valley, a pillar linked to knowledge and innovation in rurality and to the global positioning of the territory in this area;
- Idanha Experimenta, which will give interested parties the opportunity to experience rural life;
- Idanha Vive, with the creation of special conditions for those who live or intend to live in that territory;
Idanha Made In, which will support everything that is produced locally.
Nowadays, the Municipal Council of Idanha a Nova is the autonomous body of this municipality and it is up to you to promote the development of the municipality in all areas of life, such as health, education, social action and housing, environment and basic sanitation, land planning and urban planning, transport and communications, public supply, sport and culture, consumer protection and civil protection.
The Academy of Environmental Sciences has just been born in Idanha-a-Nova, part of the N-Light Environment Association, headquartered in the local Business Center.
The objective is to develop viable solutions to current national and international issues associated with qualitative and / or quantitative parameters of water, air, soil and energy to make a positive heritage available to future generations.
"The first challenge we have launched to this association is to work on water issues, not only their quality but also their efficient use".
The Academy aims to be an institution of excellence in environmental matters which, due to its notoriety, resulting from the quality of the work produced, with the contribution of world-renowned professors-experts and scientific experts, favors its trainees in a professional insertion at the highest level.

The UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) is a project of UNESCO launched in 2004 to promote cooperation among cities which recognized creativity as a major factor in their urban development. As of 2017, there are 180 cities from 72 countries in the network.
On December 2015, UNESCO considered Idanha-a-Nova as the first Portuguese City of Music, as part of the Creative Cities Network program.
The network aims to foster mutual international cooperation with and between member cities committed to invest in creativity as a driver for sustainable urban development, social inclusion and cultural vibrancy.
The aim behind the creation of the Agro-Food Logistics Center in Idanha-a-Nova, through the improvement of a number of existing buildings (old tomato factory), providing the right conditions for the installation of new companies, as well as, with the creation of structures and infrastructures that are assumed to be common use, such as the construction of a Horticultural Center, composed of two functional units: Production of Fruit trees and Horticultural Production.
We have a multipurpose structure, with a main focus in the agri-food sector, which aims to transform a peripheral structure into a new logistics center, providing a wide variety of services, betting on quality, also providing collaboration between the public and private sector, creating value, generating investment and boosting employment.
The project also proposes the purchase of equipment to transport and store agricultural products and emerging products, such as electric forklift trucks, pallet trucks, essential to the normal operation of the platform, as well as an electric sweeper needed to clean the various spaces.
In addition to the aforementioned equipment, it is also urgent to purchase pallets in order to allow the particular producer and the platform in general to collect, route, store and distribute to the consumer markets for marketable agricultural products.
Naturtejo is a Geopark, a territory that combines the protection and promotion of Geological Heritage with sustainable local development. The Geological Heritage of a UNESCO World Geopark is internationally recognized and each geopark has a set of geosites or geomonuments that testify to the evolution of planet Earth.
The UNESCO World Geoparks establish bridges between Geodiversity and other dimensions of the territory, such as Biodiversity, Historical, Culture and Intangible Heritage, based on the sustainable development of geodiversity, environment, use of natural resources, combat climate change, geological risk management, community involvement and the preservation of geopark heritage.
The differentiating use and the socio-economic dimension of the Geological Heritage can be the motor of development of a region, based on Conservation, Education and Tourism.
GEOschools is a European project supported by the Lifelong Learning Program, which brings together geoscientists from different universities, museums, geoparks, teachers and teacher training schools who are best able to "bring" geosciences into language and learning accessible to all students.
The aim of this project is to define principles-based models for a literacy in Geosciences for all European citizens and to be applied at least in the secondary school curricula of the participating countries.
The GEOschools project aims to improve teacher training and geoscientific literacy for European students and enable them to understand the fundamental concepts of Earth's dynamic systems, to scientifically access credible information about the Earth and to make responsible decisions about the Earth, as a "system".
In addition, by combining research and educational practice in schools, ideas, knowledge and expertise it supports, it will contribute to the development of quality lifelong learning and promote a European dimension in field systems and practices, helping young people to acquire the basic skills necessary for their personal development, for a future active citizenship in Europe.
Idanha-a-Nova is the 1st Bio Region in Portugal;
It was in February 2018 that the Municipal Center of Culture and Development, in partnership with the City Council of Idanha-a-Nova, integrated the International Network of Bio Regions.
The objective of this adhesion to the network is the implementation of a sustainable development strategy in our territory. The CMCD is an integral part of an entire situation created with the foundation, interest and responsibility for the work to be developed.
The main objective is to work and promote the potential of the municipality in a differentiating and more sustainable way. In this sense, the promotion of organic products converges with the promotion of the territory and its particularities with a view to developing its economic, social and cultural capacities.
Today, we are a Bio Council, the fruit of a rural territory that aims at progress based on sustainability, on the valorisation of quality, always attentive to European policies and trends in world production and consumption.
