City Council of Gütersloh

Gütersloh is a mid-size town in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) with 100,000 inhabitants. The city is networking with five partner cities: Châteauroux (France), Broxtowe (England), Falun (Sweden), Grudziadz (Poland) and Rshew (Russia).

Gütersloh is an industrial town with a high share of crafts. Global concerns like Miele or Bertelsmann are likely to be well-known, but there also are very much SME’s placed in the city.

In Gütersloh, you find a wide range of cultural offers.

The City Council itself employs about 1.400 employees.

The city administration as well as the citizens of Gütersloh have already dealt with the European ideas and policies for many years and made them visible in numerous local projects. These cover the areas of youth and education, school, integration, Cultural-sector, E-Government, renewable energy and environmental protection. Not least, the City of Gütersloh was honored by the Minister President of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) as an "Active European City of NRW". Therefore, the City of Gütersloh is very experienced with the development and implementation of EU projects.

As a further module, the City of Gütersloh would like to offer young adults the opportunity to get to know Gütersloh as well as the surrounding region, the culture, the society and the working methods in the areas described above, within the framework of the European Volunteer Service.

We are looking forward to get known further Organizations for realizing the EVS and maybe further project partnerships.
