Blakestown & Mountview Youth Iniatitive

Blakestown and Mountview Youth Initiative is a referral run, community based organisation that works with young people aged 13 – 18 who live or attend school in the Blakestown and Mountview area of Dublin 15. The service offers three strands of support to those attending the service, youth development, family support and educational support. It does this through one to one sessions, group work, homework clubs, drop ins, parenting groups and family mediation. The programmes offered to the young people include things like working on their self esteem, anger issues, family or peer relationships, drug or addiction issues, mental health awareness, sex education, safe internet use and decision making. The youth initiative is funded to work with young people of the community and their families who are at risk of drug use or early school leaving but we also receive a lot of referrals for young people who are socially isolated.

We work in collaboration with the local schools and other community based organisations including Foroige, Jigsaw, Educational Opportunities Programme and Early School Leavers to ensure in deliverance of the most effective service and support for the people of this community.
