Associação Crescer Sem Risco

Associacão de Solidariedade Social Crescer Sem Risco is a non profit organisation, located in Fajã da Areia - São Vicente - Madeira. The principal target group is young people with fewer opportunities in situation of risk and ages between 10 and 18 years old.
CSR has as objectives the protection of children and youth through monitoring and educational guidance, and social protection of children and youth at risk, including situations of neglect, exposure to models of deviant behaviors or dependence of any kind. These objectives are dealt in a preventive way by conducting recreational activities, promotion of citizenship, intercultural dialogue, promotion of healthy lifestyles and exchanges at regional, national and international levels, as well as promotion of socio-professional integration of households through vocational training and integration into the labor market.
As secondary objectives CSR intents to promote education and training of families arranging basic training courses tailored to their qualifications, such as parental education, education of affection, home management, organization and promotion of cultural, social and sporting events; Collection of donations and participation in fairs and specific events to fundraising.
Our Project develops a work of support and attendance at several levels, in the sense of promotion and social integration. The organization created educative centres (São Vicente e Ribeira Brava), where the children and young people participate actively in his process of social promotion, while children, while pupils, while members of a community and while persons who constitute the society, with the attendance and technicians' direction of the social area, teachers, parents and all people that can contribute for the full inclusion of these children and young persons.
Our project has at the moment 60 children. It develops a daily work, near the children and their families, trying to give them the support they need without interfering in their family life. We try to help them in order to find a solution for their problems without taking them from their natural environment. We are sort of a bridge between the children, the family and Society.
The work developed with youngsters is related with a Individual plan of work (according to each situation we make an individual plan that works the interiorizing and the learning of social rules indispensable for a complete social integration; Transport home- school- project-home (in situations that they live far away from the project and there is no other way of coming to the project); Socio-economic support (Clothes, food and others); Confection of meals ( breakfast, lunch and tea); Weekly contact with school (in order to find out how are the students and their difficulties and try to find a solution for their problems with the rest of the teachers and the class director); Individual pedagogic Support; Weekly individual and group support; Daily activities; Learning of farmer activities; Health Companionship (schedule the needed appointments in situations that family can't provide the necessary support); Articulation with the entities that develop an activity role in the promotion of rights and duties in society; Learning of new technologies; Monitors formation; Prevention of behaviours of risk (drugs and alcohol); birth control; wealthy habits for a wealthy life, domestic violence; motherhood/fatherhood in adolescence; school abandon; Partnership with other groups of children (local or from other parts).
