AMIr Association (Association of Intercultural Mediators of Reggio Calabria) founded in 2014 carries out linguistic mediation interventions in the following languages: Hindi, Igbo, Spanish, English, Wolof, French, Punjabi, Arabic, Russian, Georgian, Chinese and Turkish. The Association also provides individualized accompaniment and facilitation paths between immigrants and operators, services, institutions; teaching Italian to foreigners such as L2; intercultural mediation, support and support for foreign minors and unaccompanied foreign minors (UAM); training, information and intercultural communication activities and programs.
The activities of AMIr are also aimed at fostering mechanisms of integration and support for active and intercultural citizenship, of raising awareness of values, activities and rights connected to global citizenship.
Intercultural mediation is a useful and necessary function to facilitate the process of integration of immigrants and social change of the host society. It should be considered as a "bridge" between the two parts, thus favoring the mutual knowledge of cultures, values, traditions, law and social systems, in a perspective of interchange and mutual enrichment.
