Youth and Community Action Club

Sarnaghbyur Youth and Community Action Club (YCAC) was created on 12th of March, 2005. The aim of the club is to raise civil activity of community youth and to promote the increase of the level of their involvement in the community problems solutions. During the whole activity of the club, all the works involve more than 100 young people with different interests and professions, who are combined with the principle of volunteering and work unconditionally for the welfare of the community. Like its initial period of activity, during last three years the club organized and carried out different events, such as educational, cultural, sports and environmental. In the condition of the absence of cultural centers and places of entertainments, to make youth daily life more interesting, 3-day civic activity camps were organized with the help of municipality and efforts community in 2008 and 2009. In these camps youths participated not only from Sarnaghbyur but also from Kamo and Akhuryan. The camps had educational orientation however different games and competitions were arranged for the entertainment of the youth and the camp was closed with a wonderful ceremony and talks around bonfires. The works of club are planed beforehand, during regular meetings of the members, where the refinement and the development of the plans of activities in coming months were decided. At least two projects were organized each month (a training and an event). The training subjects were: The Protection of Environment, Elections, Camping, Civil Society, Local Government Elections, HIV-AIDS, Healthy Lifestyle, Volunteering, Project Management and so on. As for the events, they included different actions (like against smoking and drugs), cleaning days, cultural events (song and poetry competition), sport games like tennis, football, volleyball. Sarnaghbyur youth initiatives club cooperated and will cooperate actively with regional organizations and the ones which are active in the public sphere. With the help of these collaborations the club members had possibility of taking part in the “Trainings for trainers” and “Trainings for the start-up organizations in the sphere of civil society”. The club members took part also in different seminars and trainings held in Armenia, Ukraine, Hungary and France. During the last year Sarnaghbyur YCAC carried out 5 projects with the help of Counterpart International Armenian organization. Educational, cultural, environmental and sports projects created a great enthusiasm among rural youth.
