Kinderfreunde Mühlviertel

The Kinderfreunde Mühlviertel is a child and family organization which exists in Austria for over 100 years. The organization has over 5000 members in Upper Austria, with about 400 active volunteers and over 60 employees.
At the region Mühlviertel there are 38 groups of volunteers and in 17 locations, parent-child centers where many activities for children, youth and families are offered. Examples for this are: regular meetings, festivals & events, camps, learning and fun weeks, parents-active seminars, mobile game operations, international meetings and projects and so on. About 400 participants from the local groups are expected at the annual school camp.

The Kinderfreunde Mühlviertel are dedicated mainly to the strengthening and promotion of
underprivileged children and families, children's rights and children's culture. Our goals are
education, leisure activities, the experience of community and fun.

The Kinderfreunde Mühlviertel have been working together with established and new partners. This
ensures that widens the international network. The Kinderfreunde Mühlviertel are members of the network EBZ (European educational and meeting centers) and the IFM (International Falcon Movement).
For more than 10 years, we organize youth exchanges, international seminars and study trips. Our participation in other international projects strengthens our expertise and opens new horizons in the project work.
Kinderfreunde Mühlviertel is a democratically organized society. All members and interested parties may participate actively and according to democratic principles. The Kinderfreunde Mühlviertel is also a non-profit organization, who are very actively engaged in the social sector and specifically questioned social conditions critical and opens up new paths. Our activities and events are conducted for very rural communities, making it possible to reach the regional deprived children/adolescents and contribute to the formation of networks between young people, youth groups and clubs.

In a united Europe of citizens, it is important to create a cooperation and enable values and cultural exchanges. Just so we get collective views and help shape that there is a design participation for young people. As anchored in the children's rights, we strengthen children and young people in their personality and make them strong. The social and political participation is a prerequisite for a strong Europe of equal opportunities.

In our international projects such as youth exchanges or mobilities we try to build an intercultural bridge between participants, nations, mentalities. To organize such meetings is a major focus of our activities in the youth field. We want to contribute to positive development in many socially relevant areas of the EU and actively participate together with our network in Europe.
