The Future of Reporting Europe

"The future of reporting Europe" will bring together 22 youth workers experienced in working with media (online, traditional, new media), young aspiring journalists and media makers from across the continent between the 7th and 10th of November 2013 in Berlin to discuss a transnational approach to reporting. The workshop will explore ways of collaborating across the continent in order to equip participants with the essential skills to become those who report on the most important matters in the future. The workshop will help young media makers with an interest in Europe to establish a network which will enable them to continue their trans-national collaboration beyond the time spent in Berlin. The workshop aims to: • train participants in reporting on European issues from a transnational rather than a national perspective • educate participants in linking practical reporting and web 2.0 journalism skills with an ongoing discussion on how to write about Europe transnationally • better equip young aspiring media makers to deal with the demands of reporting to a European audience in a thoughtful, independent-minded way • strengthen networks between youth workers/youth leaders and media makers from different European countries The workshop will include specific training sessions, reporting sessions from Berlin, daily blogging and social media as well as an editorial forum for a print magazine to be published by E&M. Participants’ profile: The workshop is open to participants aged 18-30 from all Council of Europe states who have journalistic studies or media experience or demonstrate significant interest in the topic. The participants are expected to use the knowledge acquired during the event within their home community/network. The selection of participants will be made by E&M according to the applicants’ qualifications and motivation. Formal requirements: - are aged 18 to 30 and are living in Europe (Council of Europe states) - have relevant media experience or demonstrate significant interest in the topic - are involved in working with youth and will share the acquired knowledge within their home network - are fluent in English - will participate in the workshop over the whole four days (7th of November to 10th of November) This project is organised by E&M, together with the legal association, Europa neuer Ideen e.V.
