SOAP II 2015 - Sports, Outdoor Activities and Participation

2-8 November 2015 | Kakopetria village in the Troodos region , Cyprus

Nelson Mandela said: “It (sports) has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand.”
Sports is a very attractive activity for many young people. It is fun to do, brings you together with friends and is healthy for your body and spirit. Sports is not only about winning of competition. Sports can bring people together and help individuals to learn. In the SOAP II training, we will explore the power of sports, the possibilities it brings to attract young people and learn to use it as an educational tool. We will use the extraordinary setting and land-scape of the Troodos region of Cyprus to merge outdoor learning with the power of sports. In the training, we will spend time outdoors, do sports, talk about sports, and learn about sports and its effects on participation, inclusion and other societal issues. Aims of the training course: • Form new networks: to bring sport organisations from European countries together and to increase co-operation with experienced youth organisations • Make use of the power of sports: to use sport as an educational tool in international youth projects • In- and Outdoor: to make use of the environment through outdoor learning and activities Objectives of the training course: o Encourage new co-operations in Europe in the Erasmus+YiA programme o Address new target groups o Look forward to the new European programmes o Encourage creative and sportive methodology in non-formal learning o Live a healthy week and have fun

Costs

This project is financed by the Erasmus+: Youth in Action Programme. Being selected for this course, all costs (accommodation, travel, visa, etc.) relevant to participation in the course will be covered by the NAs involved in this project - except a participation fee which varies from call to call and country to country. Please contact your Erasmus+: Youth in Action NA to learn more about the financial details, and how to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.
