1-8 November 2013 | Turku, Finland

Topics: Leadership skills, international youth cooperation, youth employment. Competences of Youth Leader;Non-formal Learning;Project Management;How to engage excluded youth to youth work;How to use leadership skills for successful employment.
The Aims: - To improve communication between minority youth organizations throughout the Nordic region; - To promote active and real participation of minority youth in cultural and social affairs in their home countries; -To create a unite environment inside the Nordic region where young people can realize their potential in different fields of social life. Outcome: - We hope that in the long-run this project will help to decrease racial and cultural stereotypes by increasing multicultural awareness not only within the Nordic youth, but with the rest of the Nordic population. - This first step of the project – current training conference for minority leaders - will provide them with skills that are necessary to motivate and organize members of their organizations and prepare them for more active international cooperation. Theme: Leadership skills, international youth cooperation, youth employment. - Leadership as a win/win situation; - Competences of Youth Leader; - Non-formal Learning; - Project Management; - Work with minorities organizations; - How to engage excluded Young people to work in Youth Organizations; - “How to use leadership skills for successful employment”. Activities, methods: non-formal education, common projects development. Number of participants: 40, including trainers and facilitators. Age of participants: from 18 years old, preferably till 30-35 years old to keep group dynamics, but not limited. Working languages: Russian and English (for some sessions and workshops). Participants: Youth leaders, youth workers from organizations who working with Russian-Speaking ethnic minorities youth. From 2 till 5 participants per country (if many organizations applying). PRIORITIES will be given to NATIONAL organizations, Umbrella or Union National, European and International organizations with statutes proving it or with other confirmation from local authorities (ministries, other national organizations and governmental institutions). Priority will be given to decision makers in their organizations The rest are also welcome! Countries: Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Czech Republic. Could be possible to accept other countries, but with advanced agreement. Please, contact us for this matter. Countries that not mentioned above could take part in the Conference and trainings also, but in this case you should cover all expenses by yourself or your organization could do it for you. Description: We expect to develop and motivate successful leaders and project ideas multipliers for local organizations in order to work efficiently with youth unemployment. The training will provide them with real tools for successful work in permanent basis with the problem and the target group. Which is minority youth who has problems with integration in European society due to other background, lack of experience or other reasons. After TC, plans, that participants will make a workshops (1 day long) in their local communities, topics will be “Leadership and social inclusion”, “How to use leadership skills for successful employment”. On the one hand it will be good multiplying effect of leadership skills and knowledge they will gain during TC, on the other hand it will be good impact on local community, and promotion of European Priorities in Youth Work. The participants will receive a questionnaire one month before the start of the TC. This questionnaire includes questions on the way participants see the Role of Leader of Youth Organization, what do they expect from TC, which topics is urgent for them. This questionnaire will give the participants a first chance to reflect on Role of the Leader and their learning needs. Evaluation: During the training course everyday group evaluations/reflection groups will be implemented. This gives the opportunity to take into consideration the remarks given by the participants for the rest of the TC. On the other hand, we can follow the learning path of each participant from more nearby. The last day of the TC the whole group will have a final evaluation of the training course, which will include group evaluation/discussion, planning the second stage of the project – local actions. There will be space for exchange of ideas, suggestions; individual assessment of satisfaction, participant’s project evaluation questionnaires. Five month after the training, the participants will receive one more questionnaire to evaluate how the implementation of the workshops they design during the TC, to know how the skills gained in the training match with their working reality and what their future learning needs are.

Costs

For Nordic and Baltic countries costs are: We cover 100% of accommodation, meals, materials and fees for trainers. We cover 70% of travel expenses (economic class) from home to the venue. Scale of your maximum travel expenses you could receive after application. Participation fees: 30 euro per person. It will cover some part of training expenses.

Participants are entitled to receive a Youthpass certificate from the organiser, for recognition of their competence development during the activity. Read more about Youthpass:
