Professional Video Positive Impact

Training Course

8-17 March 2016 | Bradford, United Kingdom

'Professional Video Positive Impact' will bring together 24 participants from 6 European countries. Together they will learn how to create quality video projects on a tight budget from trainers with experience in the TV & Movie industry.
'Professional Video Positive Impact' will bring together 24 participants from 6 European countries. The countries involved are Bulgaria, Finland, Romania, Spain, Ukraine and the United Kingdom. Many organisations (NGOs, charities, businesses, etc) use self-produced videos to promote themselves and their projects. Unfortunately, these videos often fail to make the impact that was hoped for them because they lack the polish and professional quality needed to grab the attention of their audience. Making a video is easy, but making a good video takes knowledge, skills and hard work. 'Professional Video Positive Impact' will teach its trainees: • how to communicate successfully using video; • how to tell a story quickly and clearly; • the importance of planning; • the power of editing; • and give them the opportunity to experience the different roles of a filmmaking team. The trainers and organisers of this course will include experts from across Europe with experience from the TV, Movie, Photography and Radio industries. The training methods used will be 'non-formal', meaning they are interactive, are based on learning-by-doing and experiential learning. This means participants must be ready to engage with others, or at least willing to push their comfort zones a little. This training course is primarily aimed at youth workers and anyone who works with young people (young people are aged under 30 years) and who wish to improve their video-making skills for the benefit of young people. It is also open to people who work or volunteer for charities, NGOs and social groups and who wish to improve their video-making skills for the benefit of these organisations. During the daily sessions, participants will take part in a range of team and solo activities that will expand their knowledge and practical abilities. They will also interact with the local community and put their new skills to use by creating promotional videos for several Bradford charities. There will also be day trips and visits to locations around Yorkshire and specifically to the UK's National Media Museum (formerly known as the National Museum of Film & Photography). The official purpose of 'Professional Video Positive Impact' is: To develop the video-making and marketing competences of the attendees. During the project, participants will achieve the following objectives: • improve their knowledge of creating a story, of filming efficiently and of utilising media channels effectively. • improve their skills in filming, editing and publishing videos online. • become more confident in their digital abilities. • develop their empathy towards disadvantaged people and be more culturally aware of their place in Europe. • want to make a positive change in their companies, communities and NGOs. Attendees must be 18+ years of age and be competent enough in English to speak freely and be involved in team activities. Participants can be of any nationality, but must travel to/from one of our 6 partner countries (Bulgaria, Finland, Romania, Spain, Ukraine or the United Kingdom).
