OURS II. On Unexplored RouteS II.

Training Course

15-26 September 2021 | Répáshuta, Bükk Mountains, Hungary

The 10 days TC is the continuation of the first edition of OURS. OURS II. is an advanced level Training or Trainers/Youth workers who want to develop themselves with youth of fewer opportunities thorugh outdoor experiential education.

The main event of the 10 days course is that participating trainers and youth workers will plan and implement a 3-day camp for 25 youngsters with fewer opportunities embedded into the learning flow, and then evaluate it. Participants will receive a profound preparation with self-experience in outdoor experiential education before the on-the-job experience with the youngsters.  The preparation phase will include workshops on how to connect to and "handle" youth of fewer opportunities (solution focus coaching, trauma awareness approach, tools and games for participatory approach). The course is situated in the deep forests of Hungary, using it as a class room and gaining rich experiences in team planning and execution, team resources on learning and knowledge exchange while using the assessment system of ETS competences for youth workers.

Organiser:

Élményakadémia KHE (Youth NGO)

Élményakadémia was founded in 2005 by 12 young volunteers, who - based on their Personal experiences - believed that non-formal education is an essential tool for the development of groups and individuals. The objective of the organization is to provide opportunities for youth and youth workers through various non-formal educational activities to develop their personal and professional skills, resulting in altered attitudes and behaviour. To reach this, uniquely in Hungary, the organisation is focusing mainly on outdoor and other physical activities supported by diverse methodologies of experiential education. Such as non-violent communication, dance-and movement, artistic expression and solution focused coaching techniques. Our main thematic focuses are: personal and social participation of youth, professional development of youth workers, inclusion and education on sustainable environment, activities for positive life-leading skills. We foresee reaching them by running experience based on non-formal educational activities resulting in the development of life leading skills and competences. Our mission is to inspire, empower and support youth and youth workers to take responsibility in their lives and their communities. Our target group is youth, volunteers and youth workers who are working with them. We put special emphasis to reach and involve youth with fewer opportunities: those dropping out of the school system, unemployed, living in geographically and socially disadvantaged regions, on Roma settlements.
