New Horizons: international learning opportunities for young people
Training Course
21-25 May 2017 | Prague/central Bohemia, Czech Republic
Partnership Building and training activity for organisations working with youngsters with low educational achievement
… If you are working with young people who are struggling to follow traditional formal educational pathways
… If you think international activities would be of interest to the young people you work with and could help your work with them
… If you are (relatively) new to international projects and are keen to hear more about the possibilities Erasmus+ can offer … If you are looking for possible partner organisations with the same understanding of the target group and the same quality standards in youth work
… If you would like extra support and coaching during project development and implementation
…This activity might be just for you!
This training course is for youth workers, ‘youth professionals’ or anyone working with young people that have:
- Left formal education early and achieved no or very minimal educational qualification
- Are at risk of dropping out and leaving school early
- Are attending ‘second chance schools’ or alternative educational institutions
- Have difficulties speaking the language of their host country
- Or whose educational pathway has been disrupted due to other significant challenges in their life
Background: Participating in an international project and meeting people from different cultures is a boost for one’s self-confidence and is also a discovery of oneself. It shows yourself how you behave in new situations and with new people. A mobility project can help give Young People with Fewer Opportunities a clearer idea about further education or training they might want to pursue This impact is even stronger for young people with fewer opportunities who maybe never were abroad before, compared to well-off youth.
Have a look here for more detailed information on positive impact of international activities on young people with fewer opportunities here: https://www.salto-youth.net/downloads/4-17-3230/ImpactOfMobilityOnYPFO.pdf
However, involving young people with low educational achievement in an international project also requires significantly more efforts, resources, time and money and not the least: reliable and trustworthy partners.
This activity will target these particular needs and will support the participants in navigating their way through the Erasmus+ Youth in Action programme. We will offer advice and support to:
- Find the best format for projects for the target group of young people you work with
- Identifying the financial possibilities to cover part of the additional costs
- Enabling partner finding among trustworthy partner organisations
- Develop first project drafts to follow up on
Participants of the course will be in close contact with their National Agency before participating in this course and will receive support after the course as well with the further development of their project applications and in the case these get granted, with project implementation and reporting.
After the projects have been implemented, selected participants will have the chance to take part in a follow-up conference in Portugal in summer 2018 where different beneficiaries will meet with NA representatives to share experiences on inclusion projects that have been implemented.
The course will be held in “international English” meaning that many participants will not be fluent in English and we will still be able to understand each other!
