Interculturality Works!

Training Course

16-23 January 2023 | Szeged, Hungary

During the training, participants discover different approaches and methods; analyse the different aspects of culture and interculturality, integration challenges and opportunities; and different online and offline tools and approaches.

The intercultural diversity of most countries in Europe is growing day by day, and this topic is rarely covered in school curricula. Embracing the diversity creates a healthier society, where the cultural differences are accepted. All countries of the partnership are dealing with the problem of cultural understanding, are trying to involve different pedagogical approaches and teaching methods. We share similar views about cultural diversity but we have diverse knowledge and experiences about the youth work situation in our communities. The idea of this project was driven from that fact, that we have to bring various methods and tools which the youth workers from culturally mixed areas can effectively use and by that develop their competencies for working with youth from different cultural backgrounds. The main aim of this project is to increase the competencies of youth workers about intercultural communication and cooperation, and bring various teaching methods and pedagogical approaches for transferring that knowledge into their local realities while working with young people on daily basis.

Reaching this goal, we support the participants to:

  • increase their knowledge, skills and equipping them with methods for integration of young people from different cultural backgrounds;
  • improve their skills, attitudes, creativity and innovative approaches for youth work through experiential learning and learning by doing;
  • understand the unique importance of cultures, emphasizing our shared values and pluralistic identity, while also promoting tolerance, equity and solidarity among different cultures, nationalities, ethnic and religious groups;
  • improve their knowledge and skills by exchanging views and experiences.

The project’s target group is: NGO trainers, facilitators, mentors, coaches, project managers and coordinators who are working in culturally mixed areas, directly with youth on a daily basis. The project will gather participants from 10 countries. The participants will be coming from Hungary, Slovakia, North Macedonia, Denmark, Poland, Lithuania, Romania, France, Greece, Spain, and Cyprus. Through this call we are searching for participants from all countries, except Hungary.
