From Dreams To Actions: together for a peaceful future

Training Course

15 September - 3 October 2021 | Online, Belgium - FL

From Dreams To Actions is a project that contributes to bringing peace from the abstract level to everyday life. It focuses on promoting the values of peace and non-violence by using non-formal education and by creating a safe and motivating environment.

SCI has 100 years of experience and with this project the International Secretariat of SCI intends to contribute to our Strategic Plan and share our crème de la crème of knowledge and skills with you!
We invite volunteers and activists to join around the Training Course, which will aim to build capacity and empower 32 youth activists to become peace envoys, who will be ready to take various types of actions about and for peace in their home countries.
The Training Course will include:
1. Common time dedicated to expanding knowledge on peace and its different levels;
2. Parallel session (upon the choice of participants) related to different ways of working for peace, including among others:
- street actions and campaigning,
- advocacy and lobbying for political change,
- Non-Violent Communication and ways to educate about/through NVC,
- communication campaigns in social media;
3. Street action during the International Day of Peace (21.09);
4. Preparation of follow-up actions to take place in participants' countries.

The training project is prepared by 2 experienced and certified trainers,  Natalia Jivkova and Gośka Tur. They have run numerous trainings, and we can ensure the training quality!
There will also be a few experts leading sessions dedicated to certain topics (advocacy, online campaigning, etc.).

As a follow-up, participants will share their knowledge back in their countries as peace ambassadors and will organise local actions (up to their choice: digital, advocacy-related, street action, workshops, etc.) that will spread the idea of 'peace in practice' wider, beyond their organisations.
The participants will be awarded with certificates and Youthpasses.

Service Civil International (Others)

Service Civil International (SCI) is one of the world's largest international volunteering organisations dedicated to promoting a culture of peace and foster participation through the organisation and coordination of voluntary projects all over the world. SCI has 42 members worldwide and an ever-growing number of partner organisations. In 2020, SCI celebrates its 100th anniversary! The whole century of working for peace through volunteering and education.
SCI’s vision is a world of peace, social justice and sustainable development, where all people live together with mutual respect and without recourse to any form of violence to solve conflict. SCI’s mission is to promote a culture of peace by organising international volunteering projects with local and global impact.
Our motto is "Deeds not Words", as we not only talk about what is important for us, but we put the principles of SCI into practice by giving mostly young people an opportunity to volunteer and meet persons from other cultural, religious, and societal backgrounds.
