BalkanIDEA Novi Sad (Youth NGO)

BalkanIDEA Novi Sad (BINS) is a youth organisation established in 2000 as a pilot project of Council of Europe and
European Youth Foundation as the first local in the regional network BalkanIDEA. The main objective of the network was to
support the initiative of regional cooperation among the students and youth in South East Europe, thorn by conflicts in ‘90s.
In 2001 BINS was the 1st org. which brought together young people from Croatia, BIH and the former Yugoslavia under
the project My House Is - Your House, to promote tolerance of interethnic relations among these young people. Nowadays,
BINS continues achieving its initial mission through active membership and participation in the Steering Board of South
East European Youth Network, and the programme Talk to the Book (implementation of the traveling Living Library events
organised in all ex-Yugoslavian countries), implemented with the support of Youth Committee Novi Sad – European Youth
Capital 2019, the initiative started by 6 oldest local youth org, including BINS.
In 2005 BINS was nominated as one of the contact points for Youth in SEE by SALTO SEE Resource Centre.
Active participation in the GLP programme and cooperation with the Political Directorate of CoE, as well as membership in
the Supervisory Board of CoE earned BINS status of the partner org. of Council of Europe, the first ever to get such status.
BINS has implemented numerous YE, TC and capacity building programmes within Youth, Youth in Action and Erasmus+
Programmes of the European Commission and was one of the org. that participated in the development of national and
regional strategies of the programme for cooperation with SEE. As a result of this strategy, contact points for promoting
and facilitating the implementation of this programme were set up and BINS was one of them. In addition, this opened the
possibility for org. from SEE to apply with their projects directly to the European Commission and to access funds of Youth
for the first time.
BINS currently has 20 active members and around 50 volunteers. It is one of the founders of Youth Council of Serbia,
National Association of Youth Workers of Serbia, Youth Committee Novi Sad – European Youth Capital 2019, and Novi
Sad Youth Forum, and a member of South East European Youth Network and Panonian Platform for Human Rights.
