Description

The SALTO-YOUTH South East Europe, EuroMed and Eastern Europe and Caucasus Resource Centres in cooperation with the National Agencies for Erasmus+, youth field, of France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Poland, The Netherlands and the U.K. and the Partnership between the Council of Europe and the European Commission in the field of Youth are organising a long-term strategy on the topic of youth work against violent radicalisation. In this framework we are looking for trainers to facilitate a seminar for 20 -25 participants.

DATES:

The seminar will be held from 19th – 24th November 2018 in a country of the Western Balkans (including 4 full working days on 20th – 23rd and arrival and departure days, venue to be confirmed).

The prep meeting will be held in Ljubljana on 21st – 22nd June 2018 (full day of 21st until 13.00 on 22nd June).

PARTICPANTS:

The seminar targets various stakeholders in the youth field, in particular NGOs with active experience in working on the topic of youth work against violent radicalisation, especially at the stage of prevention and building resilience of young people, but also youth policy makers, local authorities, or representatives of institutions working in the field.

 

The DRAFT OBJECTIVES of the seminar have been defined as follows:

  • Share practices in working against the radicalisation of young people leading to violence from youth work and other sectors that are involved in this field;
  • Analyse the transferability of existing practices and tools to other contexts;
  • Reflect about the role of youth work in the prevention of young people’s radicalisation leading to violence;
  • Raise the visibility of the (preventive) role that youth work can play in this context;
  • Explore possible interdependencies between different approaches and how to implement effective grass roots strategies;
  • Identify the needs of participants for further work in this field in order to define future steps to be taken, especially in in the framework of the Erasmus+: Youth in Action programme.

Requested trainer profile

Candidates shall:

  • Have sound knowledge about and experience in working on the topic of this seminar;
  • Have experience of working in the field of European cooperation and with multicultural groups, if possible also involving   larger geographical contexts (wider Europe, Partner regions of the Erasmus+ Programme);
  • Have experience in working in non-formal learning contexts in youth work. (Special attention will be paid to the candidate’s understanding of the concept of non-formal education);
  • Be able to give theoretical inputs as well as arrange practical learning sessions;
  • Have a very good level of both spoken and written English language;
  • Be able to draw for their work as a trainer from a variety of formal, informal and non-formal learning experiences.

The tasks of the trainers’ team include:

  • Be prepared before and actively participate in the full preparatory meeting;
  • Development of the seminar programme in communication with the other trainer and the organising team in the period between the preparation meeting and the seminar;
  • Participants’ theoretical and practical preparation prior their arrival to the seminar;
  • Facilitate the seminar: creative implementation of the objectives defined by the organisers. This should include approaches aiming to build good working relations within the group and creating a setting where participants feel safe to discuss difficult topics;
  • Contribute to the final documentation of the seminar by
    • writing up any new methods and tools used during the seminar for inclusion into the Toolbox;
    • ensuring documentation of outcomes of working sessions and the seminar.

Working conditions

The selected trainers will be contracted through their organisation by SALTO EuroMed.

Therefore, each expert has to be backed up by a legal entity (NGO or company he/she belongs to, company he/she created for the freelance expert); supportive documents need to be sent if selected.

Trainers will be paid a fee of 2.250 EUR.
