Long-Term Training for Trainers: Call for 1 trainer

SALTO Training and Cooperation RC on behalf of the network of NAs is looking for

1 trainer

Application deadline:

12.10.2021

Description

In September 2022, the ETS Long-Term Training of Trainers (ToT) will enter its 21st edition. This long-term training course (LTTC) is organised by SALTO Training and Cooperation Resource Centre (SALTO T&C RC) in cooperation with the National Agencies (NAs) of the EU’s Erasmus+ Youth and the European Solidarity Corps Programmes.

This LTTC aims to train trainers to gain the competences and the motivation to contribute to improving the quality of projects within the programmes mentioned above and beyond.

The ToT lasts one year and consists of:
• three residential seminars
• international practice training projects run by groups of 4 participants
• on-going e-learning
• on-going mentoring

You can find extended information about the course on the SALTO-page: www.salto-youth.net/ToT

Requested trainer profile

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • is competent to design, facilitate and evaluate training courses for trainers – especially with a long-term format - based on the principles and approaches of non-formal learning and self-directed learning/learning to learn;
  • has experience in facilitating training courses for trainers/facilitators/educators;
  • has experience in facilitating individual and group learning processes;
  • has experience in facilitating learning processes online;
  • has profound knowledge and understanding of the Erasmus+ Youth and the European Solidarity Corps Programmes, and European Youth and Education policies;
  • has extensive experience in working in international teams of trainers;
  • keeps on learning and reflecting on their own professional development;
  • can commit for a long-term engagement in the team.

The working language in this course is English, and candidates are expected to be fluent in speaking and writing.

Working conditions

Candidates have to be available for the full duration at all three seminars.

An extended (to build the new team) prep-meeting: 2 days in spring/summer 2022 (exact dates to be decided).

  • Sem 1: 22/23 Sep - 2 Oct 2022 (Portugal)
  • Sem 2: 12/13 - 22 January 2023 (Germany)
  • Sem 3: 16/17 - 24 June 2023 (tbd)

NB: It is intended that seminar 3 will take place in the country of the new trainer and if so, this trainer would take on an additional role as coordination and logistic support for that seminar. This will be decided once the selection is complete. Please note that the country of residence of the applicants will have NO impact on the decision process.

Apart from designing, implementing and evaluating the seminars, trainers are also expected to:

  • Support the learning process of a selected number of participants throughout the whole period of the course (mentoring).
  • Support two teams of participants for the implementation of their training practice project.
  • Generally, to contribute to the online learning of participants during the whole duration of the course using the virtual platform prepared for it.

Calculation of trainer fees for the whole ToT course:

  • Seminar days: 22 plus 0.5 days per training day (= existing course) for preparation, evaluation and reporting = 33 days
  • Extra days for mentoring of participants during learning projects and practical projects between the 3 seminars: 10 days

Total per trainer: 43 days x 320€ = 13.760€

Additionally, certain tasks are taken over by the team and will need to be divided among the team members once the new team is formed. The days dedicated to that will be calculated separately:

  • Administrative tasks within the team/ communication with the participants, SALTO T&C and NAs.
  • Supporting the digital learning environment, including maintenance of the Facebook group, preparation of online weeks and online aperitifs, etc.
  • Potentially being the on-site contact person for the implementation of seminar 3.

The fee will be paid by SALTO T&C in three instalments after each seminar (the budget is supported by sending NAs). All expenditures for travel, board and lodging regarding the course will be paid and reimbursed by SALTO T&C.

After the first year, an evaluation will take place on the team cooperation to decide about the continuation.

Team composition

Until today, the team consists of three trainers: Gabi Steinprinz, Anita da Silva and Paul Kloosterman. Paul Kloosterman will leave the team by the end of edition 20 in June 2022. Therefore, we are looking for one trainer to complete the team.

Application & selection procedure

How to apply:

As we are looking for a highly skilled candidate to support the LTTC and who is willing to take on a long-term commitment, the selection will be conducted in a three-step procedure:

First, the applicants are asked to fill in an application form with their experiences, motivation and ideas for the Training of Trainers, and conduct a self-assessment.

You can find the application form here: http://onlineform.salto-youth.net/1822

You will need to conduct a self-assessment with the ETS competence model for trainers for your application. You can find the Excel file for that here or use the Appraiser.

Deadline for submission: 12.10.2021

Applicants will be informed of the results of the first round by 12.11.2021

Second, a short-listed group of pre-selected applicants will be invited to present themselves via a short video, reflecting on a topic related to ToT and competence development (to be communicated to the pre-selected applicants).

Deadline for submission: 23.11.2021

Applicants will be informed of the results of the second round by 01.12.2021.

Third, the remaining group of applicants will be invited for an approx. 20 minutes online interview. Interview slots will be offered between 02.12.21 and 15.12.2021.

Applicants will be informed of the results of the final round by 21.12.2021.

In this three-step procedure, the ETS Competence Model for Trainers to Work Internationally will serve as a reference framework for the assessment of the applications.

A selection committee from the network of National Agencies will assess the applications on quality and experience. Furthermore, the remaining members of the ToT team will be included in the process to ensure a complementary competence profile of the new team.

You will be informed about the selection by: 12.11.2021
