Conference: “Europe Talks Solidarity 2024” residential

10-13 September 2024, Slovakia, Bratislava region.

The event starts on 10th of September with dinner and ends on 13th of September with breakfast, the Conference full working days are 11-12 September 2024.

We are looking for 3 facilitators who will be involved in the preparation, carrying out and follow up of a 2-day long Conference in the frame of Europe Talks Solidarity promoted by the SALTO European Solidarity Corps.

Objectives of the Conference

The Europe Talks Solidarity Conference will offer a space for a dialogue around the understanding of solidarity and its connection to active participation in democratic life in Europe. The second residential edition of Europe Talks Solidarity will bring together experts that will deepen the understanding of the potential of solidarity in the past, present and future and its value for democracy. The event will offer an overview about solidarity with a special focus on, but not restricted to the youth field. It will present different perspectives of solidarity by providing external experts to provoke critical thinking around the understanding of solidarity and by offering a space for open dialogue. A part of the program will be dedicated to share the experience and expertise of participants.

The topic of solidarity is also very closely connected with the topic of participation in democratic life, as well as social and civic engagement through formal or non-formal learning activities. Therefore, the focus of the event will be to increase awareness and better understanding of the EU's common values, such as human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality and human rights.

Specific aims

  • To learn from experts and peers on different aspects of solidarity
  • To open up new dimensions in thinking about solidarity and volunteering
  • To explore how solidarity, volunteering and democracy can connect to each other

 

The target group of the event

Europe Talks Solidarity aims to bring together around 70 persons from various fields, interested in the topic of solidarity. The criteria for participants selection is the interest in dialogues around solidarity, the connection with the topic of solidarity and the representation of as diverse sectors as possible.

Requested trainer profile

Candidates for facilitation shall have:

  • Understanding of the concept(s) of solidarity
  • Experience in facilitating international, medium to large-scale events / conferences
  • Experience in collaborating with an international group of people and specifically with other trainers / facilitators
  • Understanding of and experience in facilitating individual and group learning processes
  • The ability to contextualise expert inputs and to sum-up conclusions of talks and discussions both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of the European Solidarity Corps Programme
  • Understanding democratic participation is an advantage
  • High level of both spoken and written English language

Working conditions

Tasks of the facilitator(s)

The selected facilitator(s) will be responsible for:

  • Participate in online preparatory meetings (2 hours/occasion) with the prep team one time in a month between March-September (excluding August).
  • Participate in a face-to-face prep. meeting on the spot on 10th September.
  • Design and implement the programme in cooperation with the preparatory team.
  • In between the meetings consult with the peer facilitators on the methodological design of the programme.
  • Facilitate the event in Slovakia, 10-13 September 2024
  • Develop an agenda and implement sessions of the “Europe Talks Solidarity” in cooperation with experts and organizers/prep. team.
  • Provide the detailed outline sessions for the event in a written format to the organizers.
  • Provide a report of the event for the organizer team with main conclusions of each major parts and recommendations for improving the event in the future (for internal use).
  • Design and implement evaluation of the event in line with the Slovakian National Agency’s and SALTO European Solidarity Corps quality management principles.

 

Facilitators’ daily fee: 330 €

Days calculation for the facilitators: 2,5 full days of work at the event; 3 days for preparation and follow up. 5.5 x330 = 1,815
