Description

The Italian National Agency for Erasmus+ Youth, in cooperation with French and German NAs, Salto South East Europe, and the partnership between the European Commission and the Council of Europe in the field of youth has started a wide project “Edu4 Europe: Forum of education for European democratic citizenship”.

While citizens turn their back on Europe, there is an emergency to reaffirm European values such as peace, human rights, democracy, solidarity, etc. and to spread them among the youth population. Youth work plays a very important role, and especially through its non-formal education approaches.

The project’s main activity in 2019 is a forum of a duration of 2 days, in November, involving over 150 practitioners active in the field of citizenship education.

Objectives of the project:

  • Give an overview on existing experiences and networks related to Education for European Democratic Citizenship (EEDC)
  • Offer a space for practitioners and active entities to discuss on meanings and tensions on EEDC
  • Explore the topic of visions for the future of Europe and the role of EEDC therein
  • Strengthen youth work through sharing practices from several fields on EEDC
  • Connect to policy +and policy makers on EEDC, by bringing current issues, practices, needs and debates to their attention.

Results expected:

  • Motivation, information, tools and contacts to bring back home in order to change/improve participants’ daily work, to inspire, to think differently and do better;
  • Answers to complex questions;
  • New initiatives: trainings of trainers, toolbox, curriculum for teachers or youth workers;
  • Keep track of results and developments after the activity;
  • Knowledge production (quality and expert reflection).

The project consists of several phases:

  • Preparation phase (meetings c/o the venue of the activity and with the hosting and co-organising NAs, f.i. 1-2 July 2019)
  • Forum in 19 – 21 November 2019
  • Dissemination and Evaluation phase (including an evaluation meeting in Italy in February/March 2020)

Requested trainer profile

  • A degree on a higher education level
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the managing and coordinating projects and events, in and out the field of youth, preferably combining local experience with involvement in European and transnational activities and projects
  • Well familiar with actual debates on active citizenship, participation and education for democratic citizenship, with specific and verifiable knowledge and expertise on the topics.
  • Well familiar with European youth policy frameworks and its main actors
  • Project management and organisational management skills (organising meetings, events, keeping track of different needs, anticipating, etc.).
  • Cooperation and negotiation skills, interacting with different players and hierarchies
  • Excellent administration and IT skills
  • Excellent communication and networking skills
  • Ability to create and maintain partnerships

Working conditions

In this, the Partners of the project are recruiting:

a PROJECT COORDINATOR from May 2019 till April 2020

TASKS

The Coordinator shall be the reference person of all the phases of the project on behalf of all the partners involved.

The Coordinator will deal with these macro-tasks:

  • Managing the preparation and the organisation of the whole project, in each phase of it, including the evaluation meeting in Italy in 2020
  • Cooperating and sharing with NAs and project partners to better develop aims, strategies and actions of the project, and contributing  actively to the further development of the concept of the project and elaborate on key notes, topics of discussion, and concepts for the project
  • Looking for potential stakeholders who can contribute to the event at European and national levels, and different actors who can be involved in the definition of the contents of the event (including experts, testimonials, …)
  • Maintaining comprehensive administrative, logistic and financial systems in collaboration with the Hosting NA.Coordinating the work of the Forum facilitators, rapporteurs, speakers, etc.
  • Coordinating the whole documentation of the project, including collecting recommendations for the new edition of the event.

Note: The above list is neither nor exclusive, and the coordinator will be expected to undertake any other duties related with the project.

CONTRACT

1 year contract (from May 2019 till April 2020)

FEE: € 7.000,00 gross (all relevant costs included: insurance, travel costs…)

Team composition

The first edition will be hosted by the French Agency for Erasmus + Youth and Sport in co-operation with: the French ministry of Education and Youth, the EU-CoE youth partnership, the Council of Europe, the German and Italian national Agencies (Jugend für Europa and Agenzia Nazionale per  Giovani) and the SALTO South-East Europe. 1/2 faclitators will be recruited for the activity.
