Important note: please also read the section below "HOW TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR ACCREDITATION?"

Any organisation based in a country of the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro and Serbia) and wishing to send or receive volunteers within Erasmus+ Volunteering activities and/or EVS or to coordinate such projects must be accredited under Erasmus+.

Accreditation serves to gain access to Volunteering projects and to ensure that the principles and minimum quality standards are met. These standards are set in:

* This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSCR 1244 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo declaration of independence.

WHEN DO I NEED TO APPLY?

Organisations can submit their accreditation form at any time (no deadline). Ideally, accreditation will be carried out within seven weeks after receipt of a formally eligible accreditation application. Please note, however, that answering questions and revision of application form often prolong the process to a period of about three months!

Every organisation participating in an Erasmus+ volunteering project needs to have a valid accreditation on the deadline under which it intends to apply for funding.

NOTE: Organisations whose accreditation expired and wish to apply for funding at the upcoming application deadline are advised to submit their application for accreditation at least 3 months before the application deadline!

WHO CARRIES OUT THE ACCREDITATION?

In the Western Balkan countries, the accreditation process is carried out by the SALTO South East Europe Resource Centre together with experts that are recruited by the Centre as external accreditors.

IMPORTANT: Since the online application process is new, applicants are advised to send their application also by e-mail to SALTO SEE (). In this way, we know the application for accreditation has been submitted, and we should be able to react in case of technical problems.

HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?

Once the accreditation form is submitted online, two accreditors from the SALTO SEE accreditors' pool (either external consultants or staff of SALTO SEE) will be appointed to work on your accreditation. They will assess your application form and get in contact with you, probably also visit your organisation, to discuss the framework conditions for concrete projects and the social infrastructure for sending and receiving volunteers.

After the visit, your organisation might receive a request from one of the accreditors to revise the application form.

Once the assessment of the accreditation form is finalised, SALTO SEE will inform the applicant organisation about the result by email. Accredited organisations also receive a certificate as accredited organisation.

The accreditation of your organisation can be valid for the entire duration of the Erasmus+ Programme, or for a shorter period, depending on the outcomes of the accreditation process.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

After accreditation, to facilitate partner-finding, project descriptions and profiles of all accredited organisations are published in the Database of EVS Accredited Organisations on the European Youth Portal.

The bodies in charge of accreditation may carry out regular controls to verify that the accredited organisation still meets the EVS/Erasmus+ volunteering quality standards described in the accreditation form. Following these controls, depending on the findings, accreditation might be limited (e. g. number of volunteers to be received or sent), temporarily suspended or withdrawn.

PREPARATION

Each organisation interested to obtain an Erasmus+ volunteering accreditation should be aware of and meet the requirements prescribed in the following documents:
