Alumni Network

The EU4Youth Alumni Network for the Eastern Partnership and Russia brings together young beneficiaries of the Erasmus+ Youth and European Solidarity Corps, EU4Youth grant projects, Young European Ambassadors Network as well as other regional programmes targeting young people (i.e. Civil Society Fellowships and others).

Aim of the network

The EU4Youth Alumni Network aims to sustain and mobilise the enthusiasm and voluntary spirit of young people generated during their participation in the above-mentioned EU projects and programmes. It offers Alumni the opportunity to connect with disadvantaged young people in their countries and support them to become more active in their communities and actively participate in EU mobility programmes.

This project is for you, if you are:

  • young person aged between 18-35;
  • resident of Eastern Europe and the Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus [currently on hold], Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine, Russia);
  • ready to commit time and effort to voluntarily involve into Alumni Network activities in your local community;
  • with some experience (or motivation to gain) in youth work activities at national/community level;
  • with interest to work with disadvantaged young people and to develop competences in this field;
  • with experience in participating and/or coordinating project(s) in the frames of one of the EU funded initiatives, such are:
    • Erasmus+ Youth in Action (youth exchange, youth workers mobility),
    • European Solidarity Corps,
    • EU4Youth programme,
    • Young European Ambassadors,
    • Civil Society Fellowships,
    • Others.

As a member of the network, you will:

Permanent mentorship support: You will be supported by a professional youth worker – mentor in your country of residence, who will guide you in your learning process, as well as in the process of implementation of local initiatives addressing various needs of disadvantaged youth groups.

Implement local initiatives for disadvantaged groups: You will be invited to develop a local initiative (individually or in a team) for a group of at least 10 disadvantaged youth in your respective community. You will receive financial support for covering the necessary cost for the implementation of your initiative together with disadvantaged youth in your community, in addition to administrative and mentor support.

Participate in the series of events (in online and residential format): You will have access to a series of learning opportunities related to your responsibilities, such as Kick-off and Mid-term events, Thematic workshops and networking meetings, IdeaLab and a Final evaluation event. In addition, as a member of the network, you will be regularly informed about new learning opportunities that interest you and for which you can apply, even after your active membership in the network has ended.

Develop your competences: Through your active participation in the Alumni Network activities and the support provided to you, you will gain more experience in working with young people (with a strong focus on disadvantaged youth). You will learn how to apply participatory tools and approaches for community need analysis, engage in design of community support activities with young people and get a real chance to exercise your active citizenship, to name but a few.

Receive a certificate of recognition: By the end of the programme, after successful completion of your initiative(s), you are entitled to receive a certificate of recognition issued by the EU4Youth managing authority at the European Commission. Participants from Russian Federation will receive a certificate from the SALTO Eastern European and Caucasus Resource Center.

Objectives

  • To provide the EU4Youth Alumni Network members with continuous competence development in designing and implementing educational activities for young people;
  • To provide the network members professional guidance by youth workers/mentors in their work with young people;
  • To support better engagement of disadvantaged youth groups in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus into opportunities provided by the EU;
  • To promote EU values and EU’s positive role in the region;
  • To provide peer support and guidance for disadvantaged youth groups with the aim to engage them in the projects under Erasmus+ Youth in Action, European Solidarity Corps and EU4Youth programmes;
  • To establish and develop sustainable links between disadvantaged young people and youth organisations in the region;

Editions

  • In the period of April 2020 - July 2021 the first, pilot initiative gathered 70 Alumni.
  • Next editions are planned for October 2021 - July 2022 as well as October 2022 - July 2023 for ca. 90 Alumni each.
