Call for Alumni Network

The EU4Youth Alumni network will streamline all beneficiaries of EU Mobility programmes in the Eastern Partner Countries and existing youth networks, such are Young European Ambassadors (YEA) networks, EaP Civil Society Fellows (both from EaP Civil Society Facility and EU4Youth programmes), EU4Youth Component 1 and Component 2 project beneficiaries, Beneficiaries of Erasmus+ Youth in Action programme and European Solidarity Corps programme into a unified network. In parallel, the Alumni Network will be created in Russian Federation.

At the initial stage for the year of 2020, the network will unite 60 young people (10 from each Eastern Partner country) who would be identified through open selection process. Morover, 10 young people will be recruited in Russia.

The main objective of the ‘EU4Youth Alumni’ network is to strengthen the inclusion of disadvantaged youth groups from Eastern Partner Countries in accessing and benefiting from the opportunities offered to youth for mobility or other forms of civic engagement by the European Union as well as by other donors or local initiatives.

The EU4Youth Alumni Network will be managed by the EU4Youth Coordination and Support team in close cooperation with the ‘Young European Ambassadors’ (part of EU Neighbours EAST team) and the SALTO Eastern Europe and Caucasus Resource Centre and its network of Info-Centres for Erasmus+ Youth in Action and European Solidarity Corps.

Aim of the network

The ‘EU4Youth Alumni’ network will unite young beneficiaries of EU4Youth, Erasmus+ Youth in Action and European Solidarity Corps programmes and network of YEAs from Eastern partner countries, will build on the enthusiasm and voluntary spirit generated during participation in the non-formal education mobility programmes with the aim to support better engagement of the disadvantaged young people from Eastern Partner countries in the EU mobility programmes.


  • To provide the network members with continuous competence development in designing and implementing educational activities for young people;
  • To provide the network members professional guidance by youth workers/mentors in their work with young people;
  • To support better engagement of disadvantaged youth groups in Eastern Partner countries into opportunities provided by the EU;
  • To promote EU values and EU’s positive role in the Eastern Partners countries;
  • To provide peer support and guidance for disadvantaged youth groups with the aim to engage them in the available projects under Erasmus+ Youth in Action, European Solidarity Corps and EU4Youth programmes;
  • To establish and develop sustainable links between disadvantaged young people and youth organisations in Eastern Partner countries;

The same aim and objectives will rule the Russian part of the Alumni Network.

Who can become member of EU4youth alumni network?

Person seeking membership in the network should full-fill the following criteria:

  • Young person aged between 18-30;
  • Legally residing in one of six Eastern Partner Countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia or Ukraine); Residents of Russian Federation are invited to apply as well.
  • Has experience in taking part and/or coordinating project (s) in the frames of one of the EU funded indicatives, such are
    • Erasmus+ Youth in Action (European Solidarity Corps, Youth Exchange, Youth Workers Mobility)
    • European Solidarity Corps
    • EU4Youth programme
    • Young European Ambassadors
    • Civil Society Fellowships
  • Ready to commit time and effort to voluntarily support EU4Youth Alumni Network activities in his/her local community for the period of ten month (February-November 2020).

The key activities of the EU4youth alumni network

Onboarding training course: Each selected member of the network - Alumni will be invited to take part in on-boarding training course for youth workers (6 day course) in Georgia or in Ukraine.

Mentorship support: Alumni’s will be supported by a professional youth worker – mentors during the training and during the first year of the Alumni network implementation. Mentors will guide Alumni’s in their learning process, as well as in the process of implementation of local initiatives for the disadvantaged youth groups.

Local initiatives for disadvantaged groups: Each Alumni will be invited to develop a local initiative for the group of disadvantaged youth groups in their respective communities. For the implementation of the initiatives Alumni’s will be paired with a fellow Alumni, will get funding in the form of small grant, organisational and mentorship support for the period of Nine months. Alumni’s are expected to dedicate at least one day (approximately 4 hours) per week for implementation of their initiatives on voluntary basis.

Final evaluation event: At the end of the first year, Alumni’s will be invited to take part in the final evaluation event where they can share their achievements, learnings and findings with each other and wider audience.

Benefits of becoming EU4youth alumni

EU4Youth Alumni network is a first of its kind for EU funded non-formal education bases mobility programmes in Eastern Partner countries and will offer following benefits to its members:

Youth Worker Training: Selected Alumni’s will be offered a fully funded 6-day long training course on youth work with the aim to improve key generic competences of youth workers in order to improve quality of work with young people, based on principles of youth work and non-formal education.

The training course programme is built for the development of the following competences of youth workers:

  • Understanding of reality and life of a young person, one is working with
  • Methodological competence in applying non-formal education for youth work
  • Understanding of youth work values and principles
  • Awareness of roles and functions of youth worker in youth policy implementation on a grass root level
  • Competence in working with youth groups
  • Ability to develop youth work programmes and methodological approaches

Methodology of the training course:

Programme of the training course is based on the methodology of non-formal education and experiential learning. Training course will consist of various activities, work in groups, educational methods outdoor and indoor, and have time for personal reflections.

Highly qualified international team of trainers will deliver training course.

Application of learning and mentorship support: In addition to the training course, Alumni’s will be offered a mentorship support by a professional youth worker for the period of nine months. Mentors will support Alumni’s in their learning process, in designing and implementing educational events for the disadvantaged groups, in dealing with challenging situations and providing additional learning opportunities and materials for further personal development.

Recognition: Each Alumni will get recognition in the form of certificate, coverage on various communication channels, opportunities to participate in additional activities and opportunities to meet public officials.

Deadline for applications: 19th January. All applicants will be informed about selection results by the end of January
