DARE Conference: Intercultural Dialogue - Challenge for EDC/HRE

Other

14-16 November 2008 | Hilton Vienna Danube, Austria

This European conference aims at providing a forum for various stakeholders. It will contribute to the development of coherent European framework policies in HRE/EDC. It offers networking opportunities, hands-on training and an exchange of best practices.
The findings and results developed during the conference will be published and used for the preparation of a hearing on EDC/HRE in the European Parliament in 2009. The conference will serve to provide input and networking opportunities on three different levels: • Presentations and workshops on intercultural didactics: Education for Democratic Citizenship (EDC) and Human Rights Education (HRE) in a globalised world • Interactive trainings on: anti-discrimination; viable argumentation against prejudices and xenophobia; gender-based discrimination; defining and assessing intercultural competences; Web 2.0 tools for intercultural learning and EDC/HRE, etc. • Discussion groups with practitioners, researchers, and policy makers ranging from the local to the European level: 1) Developing a coherent policy framework for EDC/HRE in adult learning, 2) Interculturalisation: Practices, concepts and strategies for the integration of migrants and other minority representatives in the work of EDC/HRE NGOs The programme will begin on Friday, 14 November 2008 after lunch and finish on Sunday, 16 November 2008 at around noon in the Hilton Danube Hotel in Vienna.
