Leilani van Rheenen

Intro

Leilani van Rheenen (Female & Dutch) was born in 1986 and is currently living in Turkey. The trainer has been involved in several training activities such as Mentor's Universe in Antalya, Turkey and On-arrival training in İstanbul, Turkey and MOVE training course in İstanbul, Turkey and On-arrival training in Antalya, Turkey and Mid-term training in Antalya, Turkey and Volunteers of the Future in İstanbul, Turkey and Intercultural Understanding in Siirt, Turkey .

Aside from training I manage an NGO in İstanbul (Aile Eğitim Derneği) and manage Youth in Action projects.

Work experience

- EVS volunteer for 1 year in Turkey working with Aile Eğitim Derneği.

- Project coordinator for Action 2 European Voluntary Services (2009-2011), so far responsible for hosting 31 EVS volunteers and sending 9 EVS volunteers

- Networking, resource mobilization and finding sponsorship for social projects (2002-2010).

- Financial management for AED projects (2009 - 2011).

Educational pathway

- Completing the Salto Training of Trainers 2010/2011 has further developed my competences in dealing with ambiguity and change, planning educational activities in line with the values and purposes of the Youth in Action Programme.
The objectives of the ToT were: To developing and making explicit an educational approach which incorporates the key-concepts, values and consolidated practice of non-formal education, learning to Learn, understanding and facilitating learning of others, designing, implementing and evaluating training programmes, co-operating in international teams of trainers/facilitators.

- Completing an online coaching course by Fowler Wainwright institute has given me insight into Neuro Linguistic Programming, Socratic Questioning, Communication Styles and establishing a coaching practice.


- Being an EVS volunteer in Turkey (in addition to growing up in Brazil) has taught me much about adaptation, flexibility, determination, perseverance, and intercultural understanding and appreciation for diversity.

- Attending 7 trainings organized by the Turkish National Agency on the topic of establishing a successful Youth in Action projects, technical aspects, final report, quality, etc., gave me the tools needed to help the organization I was working with to establish successful Youth in Action projects.

- Completing an online training course about volunteering (Professional Volunteer Academy) gave me valuable input along the lines of project management, resource mobilization, team building, communication and cultural adaptation.

- Completing an on-line Public Relations course and subsequent seminar in Jordan gave me valuable input on project presentation and crisis communications.

- Participating in a volunteer training seminar in India gave me valuable insight into professionalism and having a personal commitment to excellence.
