  1. Training: Peace Education: Enhancing Greek-Turkish Intercultural Dialogue (18-22/6/2005, Istanbul, Turkey)

    Organised by:

    European Perspective for a period of 5 days.

    Description:

    The aim of the project is to create the preconditions (space, time, environment) and provide the tools for a constructive dialogue between the Greek and Turkish youth focusing on the field of culture.
    Target Group: Young high chool students from Greece and Turkey
    Methods:4 parallel art workshops (Music and Dance, Theatre-Improviazation, Journalism and Photography
    Me: I was leading the Theatre-Improvization workshop.Duration 5 days.
    Outcomes: A nice group of youngsters from Turkey and Greece who managed to overcome the prejudices and open themselves to experiential methods. Through imrovization and group work they created theatre performances that were presented at the end of the activity.

  2. Training: Global Education and Youth Seminar (1-7 October 2007, Mollina)

    Organised by:

    North South Centre of Council of Europe&European Youth Forum for a period of 6 days.

    Description:

    Aims of the seminar

    The aim of this seminar is to jointly explore, reflect and deepen the different dimensions of Global Education in a youth work context, as well as to better define the needs of youth organisations, youth workers and youth leaders of all regions of the world, and to contribute to sustainable strategies, with a youth mainstreaming approach, towards more effective & efficient global education processes

    Objectives
    1 To explore the dimension of global education in the youth field;
    2 To get acquainted with policies, tools, good practices, initiatives and achievements in Global Education;
    3 To define the (further) needs and explore future prospects of youth organisations in relation to global education;
    4 To gather ideas, proposals and concepts for the YFJ’s policy paper on global education;
    5 To contribute to the work and programmes of the NSC in the field of global education;
    6 To develop strategies for a better cooperation among global education practitioners with a specific focus on North-South partnerships;
    7 To identify complementarities between Formal and Non-Formal Education;
    Target Group:
    21 participants from EUrope, Africa, Asia, Latin America and USA
    Methods: exercises based on NFE, lectures, simulation games, discussions
    My role: I was one of the 3 trainers of the seminar
    Outcomes: Participants discovered the different perceptions of people coming from different condinents, they exchanges good practises on GE and they discussed te different concepts of GE.

    The Seminar was part of the University of YOuth and Development 2007 in Mollina in Spain

  3. Training: LET’S MEET IN THE STREET ! (14-18 June 2006, Ankara)

    Organised by:

    Afdag for a period of 3 days.

    Description:

    The aims of the seminar were:

    • To provide a safe environment to street children and to build up skills that will help them in becoming a part of the society.
    • To provide safe and supporting environment for the children who are subject to sexual exploitation, who are addicted to drugs, who work in the streets, who leave their homes and the who are thrown away into the streets and have different needs.
    • To support the measures which are taken for the basic reasons that lead the children to live and/or to work in the streets.
    • To bring into the action the sources, to let the governmental, non-governmental institutions and public sectors work hand in hand to provide education of street children.
    • To organize educational courses for the people who work with children such as the police, the gendarme, social service workers, psychologists and also to support these educational activities.

    Target Group: youth workers from EU countries working with street children+youth
    Training Methods: interactive exercises, panel discussions, outdoor activities, lectures etc
    My role: One of the 2 trainers.
    Outcomes: participants had the chance to exchange good practises, they discussed the issue with social workers and representatives from organizations like Unicef and as the seminar took place in a Centre of Street Children they had the chance to contact them and discuss with them their concerns.
