    UNIQUE and Hungarian National Agency for a period of 7 days.

    Description:

    1. Aim of the course:
    The course aims at development of EVS mentors’ competences to support and facilitate learning processes of EVS volunteers with special focus on Learning to Learn competence

    Objectives:
    • To reflect on their own learning and learning processes in EVS
    • To experience and get better understanding of learning to learn and self-directed learning
    • To explore the role of mentor as a facilitator of learning
    • To try out practical mentoring tools and strategies how to support volunteers learning
    • To stimulate development of their own mentoring style and approach within and after the course


    2. EVS mentors from Ireland, UK, The Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Italy etc.

  2. Training: Training Course for facilitators of non-formal education activities (1-10 February 2008, EYCB, Hungary)

    Organised by:

    Council of Europe DYS for a period of 10 days.

    Description:

    1. Aim:
    The main aim of this training course was to train participants on ensuring a high
    quality standard in organising, implementing, evaluating and securing an
    effective follow up of NFE activities, in particular study sessions in cooperation with the Council of Europe’s Directorate of Youth and Sport.
    The main objectives (personal, organisational and institutional) of this course were to:
    - familiarise participants with the values, mission, structure and ways of working and
    resources of the Council of Europe and in particular the Directorate of Youth and Sport;
    - support better integration of the study session results within the programme of the
    Directorate of Youth and Sport;
    - deepen participants’ knowledge and awareness about values and principles of non-formal
    educational youth activities;
    - share and reflect on previous experiences and practices of participants in non-formal
    education activities and study sessions;
    - increase the participants’ competences and motivation to introduce and work on
    intercultural learning, as well as human rights education and participation in study
    sessions;
    - develop essential competencies for facilitators in non-formal education with multicultural
    youth groups (e.g. programme design, learning processes, team work, chairing and
    facilitating, communication, group dynamics, evaluation) assuring quality criteria in all
    aspects of study sessions;
    - develop participants’ awareness and skills about organising the follow-up, in particular
    writing reports and securing other forms of implementing the outcomes of study
    sessions;
    - further develop quality criteria for study sessions and their contribution to youth
    organisations’ needs, realities and overall strategy;
    - introduce and use the manual for facilitators and the portfolio during the training course;
    - reflect on the concept, specificities of study session e.g. study session life-cycle, roles,
    format, challenges and potential.

    3. The main target group of the training course are young people form European youth NGOs, involved in the preparation of study sessions in cooperation with the DYS.

    4. The team of trainers was composed from trainers coming from Austria, Turkey, Germany, Australia and Serbia

  3. Training: SOHO Romania (December 5 – 9, 2007, Brasov, Romania)

    Organised by:

    Romanian National Agency for Youth in Action programme for a period of 5 days.

    Description:

    1. The overall aim was:
    To increase the quality of EVS activities in the framework of the quality features of the Youth in Action programme.
    The specific objectives of the course were:
    - To get a better understanding of the concept of EVS
    - To support the recognition of non formal learning in EVS through the implementation of the Youthpass
    - To experience intercultural dimensions of an EVS activity
    - To improve the ability for co-operation and working in an EVS partnership
    - To improve competences (attitude, skills, and knowledge) about the role/work of an EVS mentor

    2. The partcipants were youth workers and NA representatives coming from Romania, Finland, Hungary, Austria, Spain and UK. The team was composed of trainers and orgnizers coming from Italy, Serbia and Romania

    3. Interctive exercises, Interactive presentations, Group work, Self-reflection tools, Learning groups etc.

    4. The main outcomes were increased awareness of differnt quality aspects in EVS and the necessary competences of support people
