Youth participation

The training course will focus on principles of youth participation and how youth workers can use different methods and tools to be more effective and confident

The training course will gather 30 youth workers and leaders from a few programme countries. The focus of the training will be on principles of youth participation and how youth workers can use different methods and tools to be more effective and confident in their daily work with young people while supporting their active participation and personal and professional development as individuals. The training course will last 6 days with one arrival and one departure days and will take place in Cyprus, in September 2014.

The aim of the proposed activity is to train youth workers how they could support, encourage and foster youth involvement and the active participation of young people as a key factor for their personal development and thus leading to increased employability prospects for the youth.

The specific objectives of the training are as follows:

- To develop the participants’ common understanding of the main principles of youth participation
- To enrich common understanding about non-formal and informal learning as an important role in the young people's personal and professional development
- To encourage the exchange of good practices on creation, coaching and management of youth participation projects and to encourage the creation of new methods that can be used in the daily activities of the organizations
- To build skills for the encouragement and support for the active participation of young people

The aim and objectives of the training will be met by using the fundamentals (tools and practices) of non-formal and informal learning and also by creating a safe, sharing and creative environment on which standardized practices and personal targets will be exceeded.
