youth commitment for water

Youth commitment for water wants to create scientist expertise about the way we have to consider it and organize actions to preserve it

Water is a resource necessary to all life. Beyond the fact that this resource is currently in danger because of its use and its waste, we want to organize actions with young citizens about its quality. Public or private water management requires technical know-how to ensure its distribution in good standing with the standards of public health agencies. Most of the time, citizens who are also customers and consumers have very few tools to ensure the good quality of the water from tap, mainly this resource is used for individual and household use.
It is a participatory research project on the water that flows from the tap, that is used for drinking, washing, or cooking, i.e. the daily water: is it still good ?
Studying the quality of the water can also be the starting point a general study on the management and use of water in areas subject to strong pressure on water resources ;both on a level of use than in the perspective of climate change.
Objectives

- strengthen the link between scientist knowledges / territories / citizen by the engagement of researchers and scientists in our work
- Encourage ownership of governance issues of water by young people as citizens
- Sensitize young people by an active pedagogy
- Enhance results by creating a social mapping of water
How to:
- By enabling young people to become actor of a scientific approach project
- By opening the field of scientific and technical culture, and issues related to water, more broadly in the Human sciences (sociology, geography, economy,...) to their statistical tools, and by studying of the interdependencies between the scientific, social, economic and environmental fields.
