You(th) and me(dia): enhancing critical thinking

The main goal of the project is to provide a forum for exchange of good practices and experiences in enhancing media literacy and critical thinking among youth.

The training course will involve 6 partner organisations, all coming from Programme countries. Participants will consist of people actively involved in work with youth in their home organisations. The main goal of this project is to provide a forum for exchange of good practices and experiences in enhancing media literacy and critical thinking among youth.

The training course will serve as a platform for participants to develop and obtain skills and knowledge on detecting and combating the spread of misinformation, disinformation and propaganda in new media, especially in online social networks. Participants will too discuss challenges which bring new media such as the fake news phenomenon. Youth workers and youth leaders will furthermore be taught about methods used in work with youth of different cultural backgrounds, will exchange good practices and share successful stories on tackling the problem of youth radicalisation, growing intolerance and xenophobia among young people.

The training programme will include workshops with an independent journalist and expert in the media literacy topic and study visits to organisations/institutions which deal with the topic of the training course on a daily basis. Through active involvement in series of activities, group works, discussions we expect participants of this training course (youth workers and youth leaders) to act as multipliers in their communities upon return to their home countries. Participants are expected to pass on the knowledge they will receive and share non-formal education methods they will learn about in their home organisations.
